The camera charger is an easy one. Get a universal charger at Walmart or any store that carries electronics.
I forgot to bring ours one year, and found the universal one at Walmart.

Blanca, just a shot. If you camera can plug into you computer some cameras will charge through the USB connection.

hhhmmm Blanca - a Spanish French dictionary? Maybe at the Alliance Francaise, but I don't know where it is. Maybe someone else from La Paz would know?

Not sure if you want textbooks or readers/novels for your English for foreigners, but here are the bookstores that I know of:

Allende Books - Guillermo Prieto & Independencia (next to the Angel Azul B & B) It's an English bookstore and I know they have Spanish books for those of us learning Spanish, perhaps they also have what you are looking for - check their website at allendebooks.com

Books, Books, Books - Madero & Constitucion - Spanish bookstore, if memory serves...they have a small English selection

Bookstore on 16 Septiembre & Belisario Dominguez (don't know the name of this one but it's a beautiful store to just browse around) also a Spanish bookstore with small English selection.

The student bookstore across from the city hall (ayuntamiento) - the store is at the stadium-like structure across from the city hall.

I bet any of these places could also order books for you if they have time to get them in before you return from your trip. And ask those other teachers at your conference - they would know!

And have a great trip! We are totally envious!

the allinace francais is an awesome suggestion ! didn't even think of it ..actually, didn't even know they had one here (it is where I learned French but in brazil !!)

Don't be jealous, I problem to take lots of pics and notes so that you will feel as if you went with me ......

thanks Mulegena - we indeed will enjoy the Y I am sure !!

The Alliance Francaise is on Revolucion, about three blocks past Cinco de Mayo. It's on the right side of the street as you're heading north (which you'd better be heading if you're on Revolucion, since it's a one-way street). Revolucion is the street in front of the Cathedral (on the plaza) in La Paz.

so Les stopped by the alliance francais yesterday and they will only sell books to their students - including dictionaires.

so, please give me names of biggish bookstores in la paz amigos. i read on another thread that there is a place called libreria ramirez. before I send Les running over there (Iam in conferences for the next 2 days), can someone tell me if it is likely to have spanish -french dictionaries ?

merci beaucoup !

BajaBlanca - 1-27-2012 at 08:39 PM

and so the ramirez bookstore had two dictionaries and Les bought them

and the university had some so I bought one too

satisfaction complete !!!

BajaBlanca - 1-27-2012 at 08:43 PM
