Tecate FMM?

Islandbuilder - 1-26-2012 at 12:02 AM

I know I've read advice about where to get our FMM in Tecate, but I can't find it after repeated search attempts.

I'm sorry to ask again, but, where is the visa office, the bank, and where should I park? I remember some have said to park in the US side and walk across to get the visa, then walk back and get the truck.

That seems complicated to me....

Please be specific, and use pictures and maps. Thank you so very much!

as you go through the border it is on right hand side, they now have a small bank across the street. i went early am and bank was not open and inm gave me a form and i paid several days later in san quintin, i pulled through and parked on an area on the first side street, and ran in, but it was 6:30 a.m.

Thanks Bob! Sounds pretty easy. We'll probably going through about 0700, so I'll probably have to my bank visit in Ensenada or SQ as well. Is that all that's needed, the FMM and the receipt proving that we paid the fee? The immigration folks don't have to stamp the receipt or anything?

Use Google Earth and look up Tecate. Then switch to street view and you can pan 360 degrees and see the locatons of everything. The images are so clear that you can actually read the signs over the doorways on the buildings . You can see the border gate, the aduana office, the INM office, the bank, and even the red/green lights!

Forget about walking over and walking back. Everything is within a 50 yard radius and there are about ten parking spaces.

Thank you!! I've never used the street view feature, (not sure why?!). That's very cool. Any idea what time the bank opens?

Make sure you don't cross on a Mexican holiday (there are lots of them) - all the banks will be closed. I'm not aware of the bank that baronvanbob mentions, but there are also 2 more banks straight down the main street about 3-4 blocks - an easy walk.

The bank is across the street, 80 feet a small office. The guy will stamp the FMM and the bank gives a receipt paid. .the bank is new, just a small room, againn I was there before anything opened and all I had to do was get it stamped paid at another bank, I did 3 days later. The INm guy gave me paperwork to do that. took five minutes, i parked in front and was out, he spoke english... worked for me.

Crossing on Holidays is no problem. Just pay later at a Bank at your destination.
