Oh the Herons are SO skilled. At our local trout hatchery, it was fun to watch the Bald Eagles and Osprey fishing in the raceways. DFG lost hundreds
of thousands of fish annually, but in the end it was the formation of a permanent Blue Heron colony nearby that forced the installation of an
expensive "Bird Exclosure". A heron in a hatchery is like a Marine Sniper, one shot one kill! The raptors miss...often.

Belted Kingfisher, the F-18 of the freshwater fishing birds, I love 'em.
Our pond is too small for fishing birds, but we've lost a lot of Koi to P-nche mapaches!
