Where is the restaurant?

Just finished reading it. Don reluctantly passed it to me on his kindle, fearing that I would want to go to Tijuana for dinner after reading it.

So guess what~~

I WANT TO GO TO TJ!!!!

It is located in the Rio Zone very close to the Hotel Lucerna (about 2 blocks away). We went for lunch in December; the food was outstanding and very interesting. The atmosphere was a bit cold for my taste and you definitely did not feel like you were in Mexico; you could have been at a very modern and hip restaurant anywhere in the world.

We probably went at the wrong time because we were literally the only people in the restaurant; we even had to ask them to turn the lights on! Granted, it was a Saturday in December and my guess is that it probably is busier for lunch during the week. I would recommend going when it's busier since it probably has a better "vibe". Incidentally, we have also been to Caesar's (their sister restaurant) on Revolution and frankly I liked it better.

You're right, it is a very sleek room, but it's also very consistent with a lot of alta cocina restaurants in Mexico City. I remember when Pujol first opened there; everything was pretty much white on white. It was a bit stark. Mision 19 fits into a very contemporary niche and is much less traditional. I've been several times. I happen to like the room but my taste runs to the contemporary in style. I really like the food too. Almost any version of the nopal salad is fabulous. I really recommend Mision 19 because it really highlights the food products that are rasied, grown, harvested, or fished in northern Baja and Southern California.

I've had drinks at Cesars but have not managed to eat there yet, so I am glad to read it's very good. I'll be trying Cebicheria Erizo, another of the Plascencia spots, this weekend. I've heard only good things about it; I hope I'm not going in with unrealistic expectations.
