Back when the sport of geocaching* was new, I hid three in Baja... one near El Rosario, one near Camp Gecko and one at an old gold mine. The first two
have vanished, but the third is still alive and out there... over 10 years.

* Geocaching is a hide and seek/ treasure hunting game using GPS receivers to hide or find a small container of trinkets and a log book to sign...
then on the web site post about it to record if you find it or failed.
A GPS will get you to withing 20-30 feet of it then you look around, under a bush or some rocks. An ammo box or some kind of jar or container is
typical. Leave a prize, take a goodie, add some comments to the log book... that's it!
It's been 10 years since I did it as an outdoor activity with my kids... There are still about 4 of my caches active and being found today from
2001... The one above in Baja, one in Del Mar, a couple in Vista and one out in the Borrego desert (a virtual cache there).Udo - 2-5-2012 at 10:40 AM

I plan on going that way next time I get down South.

There are several around San Felipe. I still have one on the way down that gets reported once in a while. Guess the rest have vanished, like the one
near coco's. Took by some Mexicans and when Coco tole them it was an American's they said - "Mine now" and left.David K - 2-5-2012 at 04:29 PM
I believe the first geocache in Baja was placed by Timothy Walker (a former Nomad and past host of TimsBaja.com)... It was between Gonzaga and Coco's
Corner... and I was the first to find it along with the gang in the Viva Baja 4WD van and the Humpfreville's who followed us in Mike's beat up truck,
called P.O.T (Poor Old Truck)... that was back in July, 2001!

OMG I've forgotten about that. Thanks you...............to whom ever came up with that idea...for providing my family with hours of entertainment.
Though not in Baja.....the toughest one for us to "get too" was in front of the Davis Ca Train Depot flowerbeds ...smack in the middle. It was a film
canister with loose change and two expired movie ticket stubs.
