Tourism up 14% in Tijuana 2011 over 2010

US tourism up in Tijuana has increased in 2011 compared to 2010. It also looks like more and more Americans are visiting Tijuana, and other Baja destinations, according two these two articles, and a few other Mexican articles on the subject that I didn't list here.

It looks like the gringo tourist feels safer in Tijuana, and the other places in Mexico they visit, and that seems to be driving their return to Baja and the rest of Mexico. Once the Americans visit Tijuana/Baja. They seem to enjoy themselves and want to return again in the near future.

It looks like Tijuana and Baja has to do a little more to attract more American women to Tijuana and other areas of Baja:

Tourism rose 14 percent in 2011 over 2011.

Tijuana is safer and has prompted the return of the Gringo tourist.

The positive image of Tijuana and it's attractions have made those who visit Tijuana want to visit again because of the great time they had.

Three-quarters of the American tourists were males who come to the city seeking medical care, attending sport events, or visiting relatives who live in Tijuana.

They reported that in 2001, avenida Revolucion had 100,000 people each weekend, now there are barely 250 seen walking, browsing among the shops that are still open. 50% of the shops are closed.

But my Spanish translation is fine. There is no word for word translation of the whole article. I'm just paraphrasing from a few positive articles on the subject. It's you Mengano who often leave out important main points when you're translating Spanish articles.

If you don't like what I translated. You can translate both articles yourself, but you avoid any positive articles about Mexico like the plague.

That is exactly what I've observed, having walked across
to TJ a couple times in the last few months. Trying to be
PC, in the pedestrian line 1 1/2 hr. there were maybe
8, of what I'll call Joe Gringo Tourists, like me. Revo Ave.
is still slow, I can remember yrs. back, it being difficult to walk down
the sidewalk on Revo, according to a couple shopkeepers
it does seem to them a bit of an uptick, although it
really had nowhere to go but up

Woooosh what do you think Megano, Maggie, and other "alarmist" do?

Just merely picking which articles to present could be interpreted as being bias to a particle point of view. The fact is the "alarmists" that cover the "Baja" area just present negative Spanish articles to give an overall impression that Baja and the rest of Mexico are very dangerous.

I saw the same paragraph that Mengano quoted, but to me an increase of 14 percent is a pretty good increase in tourism to Tijuana on any scale. But did you notice how Mengano only zeroed in on that one part to try to discredit the article, and discredit the source JoeJustJoe?

The "alarmists" that cover Baja only talk about the bad news. The Alarmist will never never ever say anything positive about Mexico.

But I also linked at least two of the articles, and any "Baja Nomad' member even if he doesn't speak Spanish can translate the articles themselves. "Baja Nomad" members aren't helpless and need others to spoon feed them the news coming out of Baja.

See where it says, " Translate this page hace?"

Just hit the link and "Google Translate" will do a pretty good job or translating the article so that you at least understand the gist of the article, and won't have to depend on other who might have an hidden agenda to either promote or bash Baja and the rest of Mexico.

I like to see ALL info on current events in Baja/Mex,
if one wants another view, read the info the Mex Tourism
puts out. Those of on this board can wade thru the
exaggerations, Maggie I believe lives in Playa TJ,

ALA the last SOTUA where unemployment is suddenly down to 8.3% . GMAFB!

You ever been on the 5 or 805 around 5pm on a friday heading south between San Diego and the border? Hardily a white eye on the road. There is definitely more traffic. More people are commuting from TJ to SD all the time . maybe that's the increase ,but 14% , come on.

Sounds like something gotta peso would come up with.:lol:
