Old Mill Motel San Quintin

sanquintinsince73 - 2-10-2012 at 12:48 AM

Does anyone know if the Old Mill Motel is open? Their website appears to be dead.

tripledigitken - 2-10-2012 at 06:34 AM

As of 3 weeks ago it was closed and fenced off.

bajaumpaw - 2-10-2012 at 07:07 AM

I ate at their restaurant on Mon night. Wonderful meal. I spent the night at Jardines and didn't notice the hotel part.

Mula - 2-10-2012 at 07:09 AM

Restaurant is owned by another entity.

Ateo - 2-10-2012 at 07:55 AM

mcfez - 2-10-2012 at 08:32 AM

What a great place it was.
I heard from a friend....it was still close....that was bout 3 weeks ago too.

surfdoc - 2-10-2012 at 08:47 AM

Traveled thru last week.

Old Mill closed and fenced off. I believe it will open in the spring for the summer fishing season.

Yes the Molido resturant is open as is Don Eddies.

THE MOLIDO IS OPEN AS DON EDDIES? Where what? I did not see the restaurant open!

rts551 - 2-10-2012 at 09:16 AM

Was just there a couple of weeks ago for an excellent meal with Capt George and Fishn Rich.

Udo - 2-10-2012 at 09:25 AM

Don Eddie's is looking for a new manager, however.

sanquintinsince73 - 2-10-2012 at 09:34 AM

Well, scratch that idea. How does Don Eddies compare to Molino? Reason I ask is kid's have four days off next weekend and La Chorrera, my usual hang out will be freezing cold at night.
Thanks for the input Nomads.

Last time (admittedly 4-5 years ago) it was not very nice...like as in the sink coming off the wall. I have noticed they are advertising lower rates recently.

As an alternative how about Hotel Santa Maria (Old La Pinta). On the beach and nice. or Jardines... close to old mill but not on the beach

OK......Don Eddies is open with clean rooms, good beds and a Very hot shower. Price 35$ for the night.
Resturant AT Don Eddies should be open NEXT month.

The Molido resturant is open and very good...

The Hotel Santa Maria is really a good deal right now and with kids, it would be great. It is right on the beach with lots of dunes and sand dollars. The restaurant is quite good since it was all bought by Los Pinos

The Old Mill Restaurant was also bought by Los Pinos.

Between the Old Mill Hotel and Old Mill Restaurant, what a recent history of litigation after litigation-- all quite interesting.

Have a great trip!

Hey Doc, El Molido?? or El Molino?:o I believe a molino is a Mill as in El Molino Viejo. We have a few here from the Sugar Cane days. How about a Spelling Bee? Tio

bigzaggin - 2-11-2012 at 12:58 PM

Stayed at Don Eddie's last month. Water was hot, price was fair, rooms were clean (I mean, don't lick the bedspreads, but the place is fine). Restaurant there was closed, so we had dinner at Old Mill...good food, big drinks. Were actually gonna have breakfast there as well next day, but woke up (somewhat hungover) and they were blasting 3 Doors Down at 9AM (why?!??!?!?!), so we motored ahead to Viejo San Quintin which, if you haven't been there yet, is a MUST for breakfast in the area.

Bajahowodd - 2-11-2012 at 05:23 PM

I have to admit being very partial to Hotel Jardines. Noting that the original post mentioned a Monday Night stay, that happens to be the one night the Restaurant Jardines is closed.

I have to admit that I have been through the San Quintin area on Mondays, and have always been annoyed that their restaurant is closed Mondays.

However, the restaurant proprietors, Carlos and Esmeralda operate two restaurants in the area (Viejo San Quintin next to the hospital on Mex 1), and they have two small children.

In a conversation I had recently I recently had with Esmeralda, I told her that I really didn't know how they were able to juggle everything they have.

Esmeralda's father Guillermo, who runs the hotel, told me he could not be more proud of his daughter.

Just saying that, with the exception of Mondays, Restaurant Jardines is the first place I would choose for dinner.

Don Eddie's is my choice, though I will admit I have not stayed the night in SQ for two years or so. Far from luxurious, Baja funky, but the rooms are clean and cheap. It's VERY quiet, and I have TWO restaurants within walking distance. I like it. But, as long as the rooms are clean, I'm also easy. I don't go to Baja to stay at the Hilton, and that's a good thing, cause there ain't any ().

I will NOT stay at the Cielito Feo. I draw the line at c-ckroaches, and dirty sheets and left-over underwear on the floor. Plus the tequila they use in the Margaritas really sucks. I think it might me mixed 50/50 with turpentine.

I too agree with Roberto about Cielito 'Feo'!!

I have been staying at Jardines since they opened and will never go back. It is wise to get reservations.
