Wish I was here instead of behind the computer doing office work on an overcast day in Oceanside..............

No arguments here... it would be nice to be outside... vgabndo - 2-11-2012 at 02:54 PM
A bleak looking place also, my philosophical brother, but YES, far better than the purgatory of the pixels!

That looks like it might be in the Percebu area.
I could be totally wrong, though.Diver - 2-11-2012 at 04:15 PM

Can't decide what the beverage of choice will be this coming looong weekend, Tecate, Sol, Negra Modelo.....decisions, decisions. Maybe I'll hike over
to "BajaGringo's" place and sample his world famous "Cadillac Margaritas".Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 06:24 PM
Yeah, I'll take that.......

Haha. My initial photo post of the tundra by a river mouth is no secret.....its about 10 miles south of San Juanico. Think it's called Boca el
Mezquital and it's a great place to chill.Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:12 PM

In a cool place in the shade. They'll keep for 2-3 days.Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:18 PM
Motoged, dig those pictures. Rally like the La Purisima shot with the Mesa. Also, the last shot which is a different view of that same shot I posted
at the beginning of the thread.
I chose to haul ass trying to cross that river outlet a few years ago and blasted my from licence plate right off, floated for about 2 seconds before
getting traction and continuing my way out of the river. Dumb move. Next time I'll take it slow. My tundra was a year old but after the salt water
got to it probably made it 5 years old.woody with a view - 2-11-2012 at 07:23 PM
my buddy did the same thing in 6 inches of water in a new tundra. water got sucked into the engine through the air filter housing. fair warning.....Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:34 PM
Ah hell, gonna post some more pics of that trip..........
Air down X 3=
Exiting town:
Let's just say the radio was blasting, my wife was hanging out the back window taking pictures, and my son was riding shotgun, while I was taking
pictures of my wife.
Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:37 PM
65 mph on the sand...............so smooth except the crabs we could see running out of the way.
and there's the wife hanging outside the window.
Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:40 PM
The river mouth crossing......
Me now realizing i just drove my truck thru the ocean (river was incoming tide - was not flowing out) like a total dumb ass.......
Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:45 PM
and my favorite shot of the day trip..............
My son found some skeletons.
What is this?
We also found a skull. I asked the water delivery dude in San Juanico what the skull was and he said "Lobo". I thought, "Wow, I got some type of
desert baja wolf skull!!!!!!" only to realize he was saying sea lion skull. I'm an idiot sometimes.................good trip and more to
come...................motoged - 2-11-2012 at 07:51 PM
Actually this pic is about 15 miles north of San Juanico (North of Ballena junction)....and my buddy parked at the river edge to guage the river
crossing only to bury his front tire up to the axle in quicksand....took 1/2 hour of panic to get him out of that....I was sure his bike was going to
be a beach ornament forever....here are the before pictures approaching that river crossing:

Yep. I will never do again. Good lesson. Tecate and testosterone fueled my decision.Ateo - 2-11-2012 at 07:56 PM
MOTO: Thanks for the correction and those shots are epic! Great colors. Looks like somewhere I'd want to go. Solitude.........Thanks!

Woody, I'll join you on the Baja excursion. It's a goal I have to not surf for once and just haul ass on the bikes for once!David K - 2-11-2012 at 10:48 PM

Gorgeous photos!
Empty beaches and lands to explore!
Camping on empty remote beaches.
That's why I go to Baja.
The tacos are pretty damn good too.vgabndo - 2-13-2012 at 03:06 PM

V,
Get a new doctor
As long as you can throw a leg over it, you're not too sick too old to ride.
Mt.Shasta or Baja....no matter.....
"It takes about a tank of gas to clear my head..."vgabndo - 2-13-2012 at 03:24 PM
OH Ged, you know in your heart I've looked at all the options! This is my 17th and last scooter. I'm 68 and after the cancer, have very little renal
function. There's a reason they call that thing a "kidney belt", I just can't justify hammering what's left of that one organ, and just one good solid
impact, and a whole other story.
I skied the legs off my doctor yesterday, old farts rule.
There are regularly 199 years worth of guys on my triple chair!
Oh, spectacular images man. The LP aquaduct is one of the most "gut deep" agrarian heritage image inspiring, feelings I've felt in a long time. We
flipped-up visors, and took off goggles, and the smell of the fruit blossoms in that valley after the desert....well we know the reason dogs ride with
their heads out the window!
[Edited on 2-13-2012 by vgabndo]motoged - 2-13-2012 at 03:40 PM
V,
Well then, keep on outskiing the doc....you have earned your pit status.
I wasn't aware of the health issues....
I am 60 and want to get in as much riding as I can before I can't.
Salud, amigo.
And when they were fixing the road for you...
[Edited on 2-13-2012 by motoged]vgabndo - 2-14-2012 at 10:02 PM
Thanks man, I have scared myself on all those roads around the bay! It was close enough to "home" to turn it loose a little bit.
I have a good friend moto/skier buddy who swears that that 18 km into San Nicolas' is the best piece of groomed trail he ever saw for letting a 650
dual sport go!
Today, "hero snow", ego snow, took my carvers, had BIG fun and was home with 8-10,000 feet before 1:00.vgabndo - 2-14-2012 at 10:13 PM
Those guys did good work, but they (nor I ) was a match for Julio.
Any one of those pictures would do for me right now!!
