Seasonal Tides?

zoesterone - 2-12-2012 at 09:09 AM

A question for those who have lived in northern Baja for a while... do the tides change seasonally? This week (due to full moon??) the tides never go out far enough to have a good walk on the beach, whereas a couple weeks ago one could walk miles and miles at low tide. I am hoping I won't lose my walking area, so thought I'd ask. We're near Puerto Nuevo and now even at low tide, the waves splash the rocks. :?:

Daily Change

The Tides change with each daily cycle dependent on the Moon's position which itself, because of orbital variations, goes through an 18.6 (for legal purposes in determing "Mean", that's rounded to 19 ) years cycle of variation. The orbital variations are the reason why "one" Full-Moon" doesn't have the same effect as another in the same place.

The ocean is rising as the result of global warming! You will never get your beach back!

Global warming is causing the polar bears to chase seals all the way to Baja.

LOOK OUT, MAG BAY!

yes, the winter high tides and larger-wave winter storms cause more beach erosion than at other times of the year.

zoesterone - go to www.tidelines.com and order a tide chart for the upper Sea of Cortez.

There will be a negative 1' low tide on 2-19-12 at 2:01. Go out front and let us know if there's some sand showing on the beach.
