Saturday? Today IS Saturday, no?sanquintinsince73 - 2-15-2012 at 11:04 AM
Just so happens that I will be. Saturday I will be fishing at my favorite spot known as Los Molcajetes. I've been fishing there since I was 10-years
old. In all that time I have never, ever seen anyone else there. The rocks in this area are pure lava formed into giant molcajetes from millions of
years of pounding surf.
I assume that there is a deep channel there because I've actually caught Sheephead there many times. The place is only accessible with 4x4 and very
isolated. I sit there with an ice chest full of beer and just fish. I don't have to catch anything......just being there is awesome and you really
take a mental "dump" while there. After that I head back to my friend's casita and just eat all the oysters and clams that I can.

Ain't that the truth!! My dad's last visit to Baja was when he was 85. As soon as we got to San Quintin he was rejuvenated and running around like a
little kid.bigzaggin - 2-15-2012 at 11:43 AM
Not entirely sure - surfing, fishing, etc. - but whatever it was, it'd be capped off with 6+ ice cold Tecates.

Oh yeah....nothing like the cool pacific breeze for me. No smog, no traffic, and no cell phones. Hell I don't even wear a watch down there. At night
the sound of the waves crashing on the beach just rock you to sleep. In the morning a nice cold tecate with a little Klamato and lime juice for
breakfast/hangover. Uh huh.Udo - 2-15-2012 at 12:02 PM
We will be in Baja this weekend and more than likely will be sitting at the water's edge sipping on some tequilas:
BTW, bajaguy, will the parade also be on Friday? We need to get to the Wine ministry to purchase tickets for the VINO Y CONCHA event, two months
later.

Maybe at the Hotel Coral, Udo. If the weather this weekend is anything like today, you'll freeze your butts off at the beach.
I've been trying to tape sheetrock all morning and the mud won't even begin to set up.

No parade on Friday in Ensenada, however there is a wine event, the Baile de Mascaras y Disfraces at the Rivera. Starts at 6PM on Saturday the 18th,
250 pesos each. 30 wineries, tastings.

Is that a Mardi Gras event, Terry? Seems like all events down here are turning into trade shows for the vintners.sanquintinsince73 - 2-15-2012 at 01:10 PM

I was scheduled to leave for Baja tomorrow but have a dog that underwent emergency surgery on Monday. Hope to leave early next week. My plan was to
get to Bahia Concepcion, launch the boat and go spear a nice triggerfish for dinner and maybe knock back a ballena or two while watching the waves lap
at my feet. The next day I would repeat the process. Never gets old...sanquintinsince73 - 2-16-2012 at 09:33 AM

Camped out on a playa on santa catalan, listening to the wavelets hiss, hiss, hiss, looking up and seeing the milky way as a bright swatch diaganoling
across the heavens. Smelling the pungent bite of sage and thistle. Hearing voices from conversations echoing from campfires many decades aged.Skipjack Joe - 2-17-2012 at 06:54 AM
It wasn't always like that.
