well, let me just say that la bocana is freezing cold in the mornings and all night.

it gets hot only if you are in the full sun at noon.

but the plants / flowers sure are liking the springair ...

WOW, Blanca number 3 is f'in AWESOME.... why didn't i get a cutting from that one?

BTW, keep eyes peeled for some really cool stuff from San Nicholas Island coming up. the island is alive with color and the island foxes are bedded down in there dens. the baby foxes should show up any week now.....:light:

woody - gotta come back for that cutting !!! It is actually from one of the most flower producing plants I have ... they love full sun and flower time after time after time. Very pretty, I just adore them....

woody = I would love some plant cuttings, can you or Bia bag some in a baggy and drop off at my mom's house ??? Les will be heading north at the end of this week

let me know his schedule. i'm working at san nicholas island during the week and the weekends seem to shrink..... i don't get down there often, but if i do, no problem.

Thanks Blanca for the lovely ornamental flowers in bloom. What's happening with the native flowers--are they blooming out in the desert? You've got to get out and look closely!

Then I scrolled down and saw Baquitos wild flower photos.

The purple flower is Phacelia parryi, (Parry's Phacelia) a beautiful native annual, found in northern Baja as well as CA. Some sources say it can cause dermatitis, but again, I've handled it extensively while photographing it with no consequences (and I tend to be sensitive to things like that). Have any trouble?

Pink thistle. Not familiar with the species in that area. May be native or introduced, but its still a pretty, if prickly, plant.

the little purple flowers are now blooming here....I think they are a verbena.

I am always so amazed to have gorgeous flowers in February!!!!!! My roses are opening this week which is always a big event in my life...and the succulents are in full bloom now....not to mention the cherry tomatoes are so sweet...gotta love it.

my roses are NOT doing well ... I just can't seem to make them happy ... I move them here and there, I water once a week, then I water less than that, in sun - out of sun. I should probably just give up but I am stubborn LOL

Very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing, and don't give up on your roses. Do some internet research. My grandmother would wait until the Dia de Gloria (Easter Sunday) and then make a few cuts on the trunk of any plant and she would claim that this would shock the plant and would produce blooms as a survival mode. Who knows, maybe it will work for your roses. Give it a try:tumble: :light:
