Okay, help me out please, what is this?

Usually I have a photo but I don't. Looking out at the sea. Los Barriles area. 5:45 PM. I see what looks like a whale shark ( Debbie says too cold, too early) fin with a coke can trailing closely behind. Cruising at a pretty good clip for 1 or 200 yards against the current and wind and then submerges and gone from sight? I'm thinking a tracking devise? Maybe a Mako?

Abraham Vazquez, or "Doc" as he's known in Bahia de Los Angeles is active in the research/study of the whale sharks. If this link works, check out the Tiburon-Ballena fb page. You may have seen one of the whale sharks that he tagged this past summer. I've attached a photo of a whale shark with one of the satellite transmitters trailing behind it.

Wouldn't the "wire" wrap around the tail eventually?
