Highway 1 from T.J. south to Cabo has had a lot of discussion as it went from dirt to pavement. I have never read anything about early Mexicali/San Felipe prior to pavement and its changes.

Excellent post by author Bruce Barber... if the San Felipe area geology is of interest, then you must get Bruce's book ('Of Sea and Sand')
