Tienda is closed ??

Diver - 2-26-2012 at 10:35 AM

Just tried to check what for sale on the Tienda and it doesn't load.
Is it closed or is it just my browser ?
Nothing else for sale, Doug ?

Ateo - 2-26-2012 at 10:36 AM

Yeah, every time I check it says "FORBIDDEN".

David K - 2-26-2012 at 10:40 AM

It was on a list of things for him to do... Doug doesn't realize he has a potential gold mine where he could sell Baja Nomad shirts, hats, stickers... as well as other Baja stuff. Tire pumps, camping gear, satellite phones, hot sauce, maps, books... yadda yadda yadda...

DENNIS - 2-26-2012 at 10:41 AM

Yeah.....not just closed, but off limits:

Maybe Doug would lease the store to someone with more time on their hands. :light:

It is the Baja Nomad store (tienda) with a link at the top of Nomad... Doug had used it to sell the Baja Nomad tee shirts a few years ago... He also sold a tire pump and a couple other items, along with the bumper stickers.

mcfez - 2-27-2012 at 10:45 PM

Yikes....I never took notice of it!

Txs David

Doug, maybe put an invisible counter and see what kind of traffic you get. i'm sure there are others who would give you a % to sell stuff here if you agreed. just a thought.

it bugged me...

mcfez - 2-28-2012 at 08:03 AM

I was thinking ......what is the definition of Tienda, after posting my comment earlier?

Ti`enīda
n. 1. In Cuba, Mexico, etc., a booth, stall, or shop where merchandise is sold.

Oh oh oh!
Well.....I dont read or speak foreign languages much...because my hearing isnt good. So......if I saw the words.....internet store or something like that .....up above, I would have taken notice. Perhaps I am not the only guy in town that is poor in foreign languages.

Just a friendly thought.

It is on the very next line above the Baja Bound add with the Land Rover that moves, left side. On the right side is BajaNomad Chat.

mcfez - 2-28-2012 at 10:12 AM

Yes....I know. I have been looking at it..indirectly...for years (?) :-)

Ok, so everyone has experience the "Phantom" store. I thought it was just me who couldn't get in because I'm a newbie. Doug, you better open something up. It seems like you already have many potential buyers :tumble:

woody with a view - 2-28-2012 at 04:39 PM

yes, but i was thinking just on the tienda so you could better gauge the missed $ that wanted to be spent. it might tempt you to stock the tiendita.....

Hey...Woody. It ain't the money....it's the exposure, and Doug has plenty of both. Didja ever see his Baja rig? It has twenty wheels.

Jes kiddin' about that, but maybe DK could incorporate Doug's doodads into his store. I mean....who, these days, doesn't want a BajaNomad sticker to go along with their GOT BAJA sticker on their ride?

woody with a view - 2-28-2012 at 07:57 PM

it's worth ALOT to know something i didn't know before....

that said, the tiendita has never been a hotbed of activity. maybe Doug should get some neon signs, searchlights and a mega-phone AFTER he backs that truck up to the loading dock!:light:

vgabndo - 2-28-2012 at 09:39 PM

I'll have to start taking better care of my three prized BN teeshirts.

I'm guessing that the 20% new visitors includes a lot of folks following links who have no real interest in Baja gear. For me and maybe some of the other 80%, the button disappeared from my view when I had my stickers and shirts and no new merchandise of interest popped-up. [Maybe.] I, however, buy VERY little on line.
