Closest thing to authentic [] Fritos around here, but after you eat a few, the lack of that trademark Frito crispy snap becomes evident.....like, turn up the heat a bit and make them a bit more thin, Sr. Frito Bandido.

Exquisito (sp?) Hot Dogs, wrapped in bacon

Natalie Ann - 3-2-2012 at 11:47 AM

Paletas - especially the all-fruit kind, no ice cream.

I stand corrected, they are at the top of the basic
food group pyramid, but you're leaving me in the
dust with words like HAUTE

willardguy - 3-2-2012 at 12:13 PM

I like cacahuate japones ( im just guessing at the spelling)

DanO - 3-2-2012 at 12:22 PM

Those cacahuates japonenses are weird. I prefer the Sabritas cacahuates con sal y limon.

I disagree.

I love their consistency...snappy enough for me...of course anything loses its snap in a deep freeze with an expiration date of 2007...

Dennis, you have got to get out more...maybe take a trip to Norway...or even to Solvang, California?

Lefse is a staple of Norsk people...very closely resembling tortillas, but of course are much tastier. Especially with good topping or fillings like whipped cream sprinkled with cinammon sugar and strawberries...not for dieters!

bent-rim - 3-2-2012 at 04:08 PM

Anything "Bimbos" or those strawberry cookies where the strawberries were brown, although lately they seem redder.

Udo - 3-2-2012 at 04:12 PM

Butter-toffee street-made nuts.:bounce::biggrin:

Bajahowodd - 3-2-2012 at 04:16 PM

Flour tortillas in Mexico. Have never understood why it is, NOB, that flour tortillas are so thick and doughy. Perhaps for shelf life. Nevertheless, anything in one of those paper-thin flour tortillas works for me.

That's like saying, "Anything General Mills." Bimbo Bakery, and associates is probably as large as Nestles.

Twenty years ago down here, you couldn't buy factory made flour tortillas. It was a cottage industry and they would be sold by people wandering the parking lots of the grocery stores.

LisaR. - 3-2-2012 at 05:41 PM

Coconut macaroons from a good bakery, paletas de fresa con leche, taquitos de manzana, helado de coco, helado de fresa con queso, orejas... Mmm, I think I need a snack!

They are kind of like an empaņada, but the crust is thinner and crunchier, and kind of rolled up like a big taquito--hence the name, I would imagine. I'll see if I can come up with an image. I think I first had one from the bakery across the street (and up about 1/2 a block?) from the Rosarito Beach Hotel.

To be honest, I THINK that's what they were called, but I might be wrong.
