Mulege improvement letter/ideas

akmaxx - 3-4-2012 at 01:44 PM

I heard rumor of a letter being composed to the Miulege delegado with ideas for improvements and upgrades for tourism.

Who is the spearhead behind this? Please U2U with how I might get a hold of the author.

The best thing that has happened to Mulege this year for quality of life is the #*&%$$ Movistar cellphone tower had its light turned off in Loma Azul. I don't know who to thank for that but I will gladly buy a few beers for the tamer of the brightest, most annoying, star-killing, blinking light in the history of Mulege.

Peace,

... and don't you just looovvve all the new topes in town?
(speedbumps, and in a town with tight, narrow streets!!)

I've been informed there is an amendment being floated in city council
to change the name of the town from Mulege to Topege (Tope-eh-hey) !!

Not.

Seriously, do you think a letter written by a non-national, even part-time resident of town will be acted upon by a mayor who has only one term to serve his Mexican citizen constituents?

I think a personal, sit-down visit with the Delegado in-office or after-hours over a beverage would be to greater advantage.

Mulege improvements? A few less gill nets?;)

....and tangle nets, and purse seiners, and shrimp trawlers....and how about the guy that now EVERYDAY sets his net smack dab in the front of our house on the river taking EVERYTHING that swims??...how about that?....little by little, all the resources that brought us here years ago are going away..sadness..

Alllrigghttyy then, peanut gallery dismissed.

Yes it was a serious question and I would like a U2U from somebody who knows the kind person compiling the list.

I do believe the delegado was the one who asked for the list and some gringa is compiling it. I don't expect the sewer/water/sidewalks/topes/car stereo/ problems to magically disappear but, by focusing on a few issues at a time, things can be done (see topes, trashcans, new plaza in front of Las Casitas, signs on the malecon, etc,...)

Finger crossed for a legitimate U2U.

Peace,

Truly, I meant no disrespect to you, Max, or to anyone composing such a list.

In fact, there are many things, large and small, that could dramatically improve the life here in Mulege.

Let me back up and restate my response then; a brighter future for the town might be achieved if the voices of the large, seasonal ex-pat community could/would be heard/listened to. However, in the past I've not seen this happen in an effective way that was more than a tacit nod of the head and lip service. The past being the past notwithstanding, I think that our present Delegado just might be the individual who would possibly lend a sincere ear to our voice.

Thanks, Max, and keep us posted here.

The ex-pats in Loreto had a meeting with the President Municipal a couple of months ago.

Check with some of them how that happened and what the turn out was.

I'm in Lopez now, so don;t know.

akmaxx, You are the peanut gallery. If you can't catch a fish in Mulege, why be there? You can eat ice cream and drink beer back in the USA.

Leave Mexico to the Mexicans...I hope it never becomes Santa Barbara...

akmaxx - 3-4-2012 at 07:40 PM

Whoooooooooaaaaaaaa there chuckie....I like topes, banda, dust, the gentle rattle of fishermen setting up in the morning - not to mention low taxes, utilities, not being able to vote (therefore caring very little about the outcomes), learning new words casi todo las dias, y mucho mas cosas.

So. Cal. is the last thing on my mind (though I wouldn't be opposed to a few more bikinis around here). I just wanted to thank the person who got rid of the amazingly bright and annoying light on the Movistar tower in Loma Azul.

Peace,

Yeah, I wrote a letter. It goes to Jim C tomorrow. I meet with him on the 7th, bebidas or not! Got nothing to lose here except some trawlers, sewage in the river and so on.

You can write one too and pass it on.

mulegemichael - 3-4-2012 at 08:16 PM

yeah....great....keep those cards and letters coming...bueno suerte, amigo......they're gonna start the river dredging next week, we hear...yeah...great.
