Would this boat stand out in Baja?

Bob H - 3-9-2012 at 09:37 AM

I wonder if this boat would turn heads plowing through the Sea of Cortez just offshore?

FAST YACHT!

it has a range of 385 miles and fuel tank capacity of 2,378 gallons fuel. get out your checkbook! it gets about 0.16 miles per gallon. that is about 8 miles per 55-gallon drum of fuel!:lol:

Udo - 3-9-2012 at 09:52 AM

OUCH!
There goes someone's 401K

Alan - 3-9-2012 at 09:53 AM

I don't know. I'd probably spill a lot of c-cktails

Wow, you got out your pencil! OK, then it looks like it would take around $9 to $10,000 to fill that tank, depending on where you buy it. What, about $260 per mile?

aguachico - 3-9-2012 at 10:02 AM

On the Cortez, you should see this:

La lancha de Slim

I agree its fun to look at, but what in the world would you do with the thing,

some people have just way to much money,

we have a pontoon boat that we use here on the Colorado river, its slow and alot of fun to take family out and enjoy

we see people from California ( not just picking on Calif)
they have a very expensive boat, and the only thrill they get out of their boat is to see how fast they can go up and down the river, it just never made any since to me, but each to there own

BobH... sent this to a guy I know in FL ... used to have a large one ... but, his Parkinson made him get rid of it ... something about holding a steady hand on the "wheel"...

His response:

"Now that's a boat.

Some guy blew off the back end of his boat this morning in the marina that abuts our house. He probably forgot to turn on his blower (to cleanse the engine space of gas fumes) before cranking his engine. Sounded like a bomb going off. He quickly abandoned ship and his 40' boat was adrift in two pieces..

Expensive pilot error."

Aren't boats fun things ... :biggrin::biggrin:

Holy Cow! I didn't even know you had engine blowers for something like that.

tripledigitken - 3-9-2012 at 10:14 AM

I'm guessing you could improve the range by going a little slower than 40 knots.

Udo - 3-9-2012 at 10:24 AM

And I'm working on saving cash for some kayaking fishing gear!

If you're in that price range, this makes much more sense for baja - much less draft!

not a baja unit

I love to see all of the pickleforks sitting on the beach all day until about 5 o'clock when they all fire 'em up and take one quick speed run after most the boats are off the lake and the water smooths out a bit, then right back to their cove.

The petroleum clock is ticking on these dinosaurs. I, for one, won't miss them.

Amazing boats! Faster then a Ferrari, but not much of a galley.
