Need East Cape Info

SFandH - 3-13-2012 at 09:41 AM

I haven't been to the East Cape area for about 15 years. I'm looking for a place to spend some winters, I'd like to check out the area (San Jose to La Ribera??).

Is there a paved/well graded coastal road leaving San Jose that goes up the coast to La Ribera?

What are the main roads that go east off the main highway to the East Cape coast? The last time I was there I used a beat up, washboard, eastbound road that started near the airport and ended near Vinorama.

Thanks

The road from La Playita to Zacatitas is paved......with potholes.
From there to Cabo Pulmo is just what you remember.
The road to Palo Escapeta is still a wash board and dangerous until you get past the dump...the trucks drive fast and furious coming and going.
If you take the Palo Escapeta road, be sure to stop in Crossroads Country for a snack or a meal with one of their margies....yum.

Amigos, winter months are dominated by North winds! The Kiters start leaving in April as the wind dies down. Vinorama area is still great for camping but much more crowded with Surfers! OOoopps? I mean fishermen. Enjoy. Tio
