We will be heading down to San Felipe once again towards the end of this week, and staying through next week. We stay at Ocotillo (used to have a
place at Club DePesca). Each trip we try to see/visit something new, or experience something new. Last time in November we did a day trip to Gonzaga
Bay. Didn't plan on staying the night then.
We travel with a large Chocolate lab and a smaller schnorkie.
Looking for advise or recommendations regarding a day trip or two for this trip.
Considering driving to Puerto Penasco if no other ideas. Saw that Dream Weaver Hotel has allowed dogs, but they haven't responded to my
e-mail/contact inquiry yet. If we go there, which route would you recommend? Saw one estimated travel time of 6 hours. Driving a Dodge Dakota
truck. Would go, spend a night, and drive back to San Felipe most likely.

Puerta Penasco, that would be a bit of a ways
for un noche? Sounds like you don't want to
repeat a drive so. to Gonzaga, other than taking the rd.

from the junction 25 mi. no. of San Felipe, I
don't know if you could reach Mike's Sky Rancho
from the Ensenada rd.? I think your options

Haven't seen mention of Bahia Calamajue area.

The Valley of the Giants: Natural Reserve of the thousand year old Cardon Cactus. Just minutes south of town. $5.00 at the gate.
Konsag Island: It is reachable by boat in 45 minutes or so under normal conditions and it is a great place to watch sea lions, seals and colonies of
sea birds. DO NOT go if it is windy!
Colorado River Delta biosphere reserve: about 5 km from San Felipe. Wow factor of great presence of endemic species, the monster gila, lizard totoaba
fish and vaquita marina. A easy day can be spent here.
Driving South, you will find up to 100 miles of white sandy beaches off the drive of the highway. Gonzaga Bay is fantastic for scuba, hiking,

I give thumbs up to Valley of the Giants then head south a couple of miles and have lunch at Ranco Percebu and go bowling (large bowl full of fruit
and booze)

We have never had drinks at Pete's Camp, so that is also on our to-do list.
We stay at our motorhome at Ocotillo and was considering a treat along with a day adventure. Wasn't really looking to tent camp this trip. Does
anybody know how to reach the lady that used to give massages at what used to be Casey's Condos? For $35 that little lady pummled us into submission
for an hour.
I tried to research Meling Ranch, Astros B&B, Baja Dark Skies and Ranch Coyote. Not sure if even the roads have great access, and got tired of
reading the road fued topic thread.
Castle B&B were fantastic in response and trying to help (dogs not good idea at B&B) with alternative staying options. Did not hear back from
Dream Weaver, but may take their number in case we get a wild burr.

Do you need web site links to any of the mentioned places (Meling, El Coyote, Dark Skies Inn)?
All of them are best reached from the paved Observatory road, coming up from Hwy. 1 along the Pacific, south of Colonet.
The dirt road between Mike's Sky Rancho and El Coyote and the Observatory road is pretty extreme 4WD stuff from TW's recent post.
Mike's Sky Rancho is 20 miles south from Hwy. 3 in Valle de la Trinidad, near San Matias... that is an easy and fast road.BajaErin - 3-15-2012 at 11:21 AM
Okay, thanks. Did not realize that Dark Skies was Astro's B&B. Found a link and attempting to print info now. Nothing noted about dogs, but
will have to ask that when making reservations at least 48 hours in advance .... printed phone number.
Dogs are starting to panic at packing. If we leave doors open now, they will run out and get in the truck and it will take both of us to ever get
them back out.
