Solo gal and dog heading south from San Diego, initially to Mulege, in a small RV. Will probably get started around noon today and am looking for
some recommendations on safe places to stay in both San Quintin and Guerro Negro. - Hook-ups not necessary, but would take them if available.
Also wondering if I can jump on a 1-day whale watching ponga in G.Negro, and if so, where to connect with the operators.

The first El Pabellon in San Quintin is right on the water, great place for a camper, clean restrooms. Sometimes a little noisy on weekends but
mostly a great place to stay. Further south at Catavina, there is Rancho Santa Inez which is a great place to camp. At Guerrero, the La Espinita has
a great restaurant and campground which is only $5 a night. They are just before you get to the military base and checkpoint on the right. I do not
like the restaurant or camping at Mario's as I think everything is way overpriced.
No problem with going out to Ojo Liebre and getting on a whale watching panga, just get there first thing in the morning, or camp the night before
and go out in the morning.

I second going camping out at the lagoon so you can listen to the whales, see lots of birdlife, eat yummy tacos at the restaurant there or a great
full breakfast...jump on any whale boat you please....if you wait till after 10 you may get to go just you or a few people and not full boats...the
entrance is a few miles south of Guerrero Negro and there is a big sign for Ojo de Liebre..turn right and follow the little whale signs.Leo - 3-16-2012 at 08:39 PM
All very good recomendations. I like to ad one more; a stop in San Ignatio if you're interested in the cave paintings. Camp just before you hit the
town at 'Beans' or something. Clean and has a restauran. Or go into town and take the campground next to the lagoon, just past the bridge. The owner

Los Olivos in San Quintin is a good, safe place to stay and you have Jardine's restaurant nearby. The turnoff is the road just South of the Old Mill
turnoff. Stayed at the lagoon last month and it was $5 to spend the night and $40 to whale watch the next morning. Have a great time.DianaT - 3-16-2012 at 09:14 PM

You should have no problems going out to the lagoon. Back in 2005, we took our small trailer out there with NO problem. While San Ignacio is our
favorite place to whale watch, we loved camping at Ojo de Liebre.
