Rain forecast and reported ten miles north, moving in a southerly direction.

I'd wait a day or two. It's hard to see a pothole when it's full of water. The construction zone between Maneadero and Sto. Tomas will be a mess as
well. This storm is supposed to be a wet one.Bajahowodd - 3-17-2012 at 03:22 PM
Awww, Dennis. If memory serves me correctly, whenever there have been significant weather events, this forum is chock full of posts about it.
Otherwise, maybe you ought to try weather.comDENNIS - 3-17-2012 at 03:37 PM

Weather or not?! I am looking at a cloudy day and now before sunset it looks like it might throw a sprinkles. EEbDennis could keep us updated. Cold
beer at Sharkys? Irish beer for Paddy's Day!! Enjoy. Tioshari - 3-17-2012 at 07:04 PM
getting cloudy and very chilly and windy here now at sunset in Asuncion.
I agree about the weather catagory...lots of people heading north from here in the next few days so weather updates particularly with road conditions
would be very helpful.Osprey - 3-17-2012 at 07:25 PM
Dennis, seems like the weather reports where you are, along the border, are usually cold and b-tchy with a chance of little change.
Now, down south here.......DavidE - 3-17-2012 at 08:12 PM

Rain Total
bajaguy - 3-18-2012 at 08:30 AM
South end of Ensenada, since the rain started yesterday, .82 inches.
Drove from the Guadalupe Valley to Punta Banda during the rain, and the roads were in good shape (for Ensenada). Patches on Hwy 1, and the new patches
on the La Bufadora road seem to be holding.
Road and intersection flooding in all of the usual places.zforbes - 3-18-2012 at 08:32 AM

Watch out for the P-nche-baches.
It is coming in waves. As I type we have heavy rainfall and sustained winds of 34MPH! The biggest gust recorded in past 24 hours (0330 this morning)
was 42MPH! If you're out walking better put some rocks in your pockets.

HI,
If you are boating, kayaking, traveling, and want to know what is _going_ to happen, Try these:
If you have a SSB radio receiver, catch his broadcast each AM.
Also Don Anderson does WX on several cruiser nets. There was a listing of nets on Club Cruceros La Paz netsite- but their site has been suspended.
Typically Southbound net with Don's WX is on 8.122 khz at 055 UTC. The weather is given at 0100 UTC . Don takes Sunday off. Sometimes freqs
shift due to interference. Last fall he called the drop-down low that brought rain when we were camped off of Isla San Jose -- for the first rain in
two years.
When on extended kayak trips, we use the SSB WX a lot, to avoid getting caught in a bad spot at the wrong time. Also, on extended off-road trips it
is good to know what is coming up.
Don and others know the local landform effects, such as west winds pouring over the range at Gonzaga and BLA, after it has been blowing on the
Pacific side. They also give the baro gradients along the SOC. Other Cruisers will report local wind and pressure on the nets.
Many thanks to the forecasters -usually unpaid- who put this together for fellow cruisers.
Cheers,

I think a comparison to years past might show we don't need to be having heart attacks over that global warming stuff. IMHO this year is cooler than years past.Bajajorge - 3-18-2012 at 01:13 PM

Forgot to add that the local weather station near my place said we had a wind gust last night of 111mph. Think the weather guys finger might have stuttered when he was typing in the 111111111s.

I have been having a psychological reaction to all this wind and rain. I guess you could call it what the Noreasters call it, Cabin Fever. For
instance, I felt cooped up last night during the storm, and went out for Irish dinner at Baja Mama's which was quite good.
Now there is some sun peeking out, and I am going up to the states...can't stand to be cooped in with all this nasty weather...oh well, gets me going
and productive...or maybe I am just a Type A personality.

For those of you in the Rosarito area, a BIG weather system is moving in and the winds are picking up.
Batten down the hatches.
Geez, I thought the rainbow I saw this morning meant leprechauns or unicorns, not howling wolves in the evening.

Drive up to the US from Ensenada today...
EnsenadaDr - 3-18-2012 at 09:30 PM
It was a very beautiful drive up north from Ensenada today...the waves were crashing and it was a bit windy in Ensenada, but just like Woooosh
mentioned, Rosarito had very strong winds and the ocean was blown out completely with some of the biggest waves I have seen there..then it calmed
down until I reached the TJ summit and looked over to Imperial Beach...where there were some huge whitecaps...right now in Casa de Oro CA its very
cold, windy and rainy...crossing the border today had the usual exit to TJ blocked off down near Revolucion, and the line must have been around 2 1/2
hours long, but the Sentri took me about 5 minutes to cross.
