Italika 125 vs Honda 125 vs Italika150 vs Honda 150

The price range is 13,000 0 - 21,000 Pesos.

These are the most popular bikes in Mexico. All the pizza delivery guys ride a Honda 125. The Honda cost 3,000 pesos more than the Italika.

If not mistaken the 150 comes with an electric start and front disk break. The 125 a kick start and drum break.

Parts are readily available from Mexico on South for the Honda. The Italika If not mistaken is made in Mexico, therefore parts should be abundant throughout.

Theses are not sport bikes. They are basic moped style transportation. By some reports the Honda 125 gets 114 mpg. No word on if this was a 200 lb or an 80 lb driver.

If anyone has ridden one of these pipe up and tell us about it.

Buying a bike to be ridden in Mexico it makes more since to buy a Mexican bike. Honda sells different models nob and they cost about twice as much. Parts for a Mexican bike of course are available all over Mexico.
Parts for a nob bike ?? need to be mail ordered???

I wonder about taking the bike home. Can it cross the border? Is the paper work extensive?
Does one just order a South Dakota Plate and not declare it?
Do the Mexicans want to let me register a bike in Baja?
Is a Baja plate valid all over?

Comparing a Italika to a Honda would be like comparing a Yugo to a Honda. Is not the Honda a 4 stroke? Then it'll eat about half the gasoline of an Italika wing-ding-ding-ding :-]

Is the Italika a 2 stroke? The guy with a Italika 110 says it is reliable. He has over 20,000 kilometers on it.
