BajaBlanca - 3-18-2012 at 09:45 PM

on Saturday morning we decided to go to the Mulege chili cookoff ... packed up and left an hour late (one of my specialties is finding last minute things to do....)

we arrrived in Mulege and were greeted by Cliff and Susie who run a B&B and rent out houses too. His house:

our house:

the house is a studio and very cute - $450 a week - and within walking distance of the jungla jim. which is where we headed when we were told there was a st patick's day celebration !!

these ladies made a wonderful meal of corned beef, potato, carrots, cabbage all for 120 pesos ... we loved it so much, we have decided to make this a yearly tradition !

the place ended up packed but we were too busy talking and eating and drinking and I forgot to take more pics !!

I mentioned in another post that the margaritas are powerful ...be careful !! and see you there next saint patricks day .

Jungle Jim is lucky to be there because of the floods. Did yo see the water line from the last storm? I dropped in last month for a beer or three-or four.

IMO, Cliff & Susie run the best place to stay in Mulege hands down; always spotlessly clean and the homes are well-equipped for cooking meals at home. For the prices they charge, you can't beat the deal. Looks like a great time at the Jungle, too! Did you have a chance to go down to the beaches on the bay? I'm wondering if the water is starting to warm up yet or if it's still too early.

They had a lot of damage during Jimena (who didn't down in that part of the river) and most of his houses were completely re-done inside; I don't think they had much structural damage, however; mostly just clean-up. He has a great 2-story named "Buena Vista" which is my favorite. Brand new with amazing views from the 2nd level.

We were thinking of buying a house down there but after discovering Cliff's place, we decided to avoid the hassles of ownership and rent from him whenever we can make it down. Man, what a great decision that has turned out to be.
