Direct TV or Dish in the Lopez Mateos area?

Mula - 3-20-2012 at 08:24 AM

Well, wondering today about DISH or Direct TV for the Lopez Mateos area of BCS.

Too cold and windy for too many days now and looking for options. . .

I have Sky with the main package and the noticias package for 320 pesos per month - like 60 channels with most in Spanish.

Thought maybe a DISH or DIRECT Subscription might yield a few more viewing options.

I tried Turner - Dish - Direct, and nothing at all, dissatisfied with those alternatives. Then, subscribed to Star Choice, now Shaw Direct, Canadian satellite service. I find it better in Baja than Direct or Dish in the U.S.
You can either subscribe to Shaw Direct yourself, or get a receiver and dish and piggy back on somebody else's service.

I use Shaw Direct [Canadian] in Lopez. Works fine though twice as much as Sky

Let me know if you need help getting equipment or account setup.

Confirming Shaw as a good choice.

Just visiting now with some new residents of Asuncion...they use Shaw and love it, compared to Sky, Direct (which sucks here in Coyote Bay), and Dish.

Nice thing about it is that one small dish gives you both SD and HD. Can;'t do that with Dish in BCS.

I have both in southern Baja, Star Choice and Dish. Alan is correct in that with Star Choice you need a normal size satellite dish while with DISH TV you will need a sat dish much larger.

With Star Choice I get Washington state US networks and Detroit. I have found Star Choice to be more flexible in channel packaging than DISH. I still prefer DISH for other content and, at least for the near future, like to have both.

There is another Mexican sat tv provider other than sky, isn't there? I know I have seen a different name on dishes in town. I just can not remember the name. Any info. on them?

VE TV is only in Spanish - all channels. Low cost for locals. No English channels. And not many package choices.

Thank you

Also Dish Network Mexico is a competitor to SKY, and nothing like Dish Network US. About all they have in common is the logo.
