vacaenbaja - 3-24-2012 at 03:30 PM

Sad news. Larry has passed away in Florida last Monday
after a battle with cancer. RIP

Sorry to hear that. I met Larry in Sharky's around five years ago [?]......not too long after his wife's tragic death.

DEP Larry....and Raquel.

I would drop in their place whenever I was at Daggett's. Was Raquel's murder ever solved?

I don't recall hearing anything to that effect, but I hope so.

We were told that she was killed by her nephew who worked for her at the time over some kind of money dispute.

Looks like a South Coast Farms tee, Jorge. In this case, it appears you gave HIM the shirt off YOUR back......LOL!

What wonderful people they were. It was the first "improved" campsite I ever stayed at in BOLA, after I got tired of tent camping in the wind farther out on La Gringa.

Is someone still operating the place?

LaPazGringo - 4-1-2012 at 08:36 AM

Well, you guys know that Larry had another woman living with him, right? Or did that change recently? Also, there was la senora who kinda ran the place for them while they were gone.

I met their son once while staying there. I imagine he will inherit.

He was a nice guy and had a great place to have a cool one in BOLA.

I just heard this a few days ago. I have always been treated like family every time I have stayed there. He will be missed and my kids were very upset to hear they won't be seeing their "uncle" Larry anymore. :(

Family Guy - 11-5-2012 at 08:31 PM

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at the house they rented on the beach. Raquel prepared the best meals and Larry was always putting around in his little pickup asking if we needed anything in from town. I am sure they brought joy to a lot of people. My wife and I still shudder to think about her violent death.

Anyone know what happened to the house/hotel/restaurant?

Oh...La Paz....
These people here, on this site, are dear and trusted friends. I so trust them, that when my heart was breaking, I could come here and feel safe to 'release' and move on, despite the few trolls who tried to poke at me, to hurt me more.
Larry exuded the spirit of Baja. He met friends, or not, but they were welcome anyway. Your words on this board speaking of tabloid B.S. hurts me and others. Places like Craigs list will feed your need for drama, but please baja friend, have respect for those who suffered such a loss and tragedy. Gossip is never useful, in fact a few careless words such as yours can form an opinion of a good man, who lived his life to leave a legacy of good will and friendship. Despite my own recent experience of a cheating husband causing divorce, I will not sit here and let go the damage you are propagating over rumors. These words here, now, are Larry's legacy to the efforts of his life and generosity and friendship. Please go away to another thread until the rest of us can respect a real Baja man and wife.

Still with respect,
M

Yes he did, her name was Betsy. She was the widow of a previous BoLA resident. This happened well over a year after Raquel died. Being alone is not fun. Good for Larry that he found someone to spend time with.
Larry

Audrey and I met Raquel in the early 90's during a visit to Bahia. She served us very cold beer and hooked us up on the internet. A very nice lady indeed. We never met Larry.
May he RIP.

I didn't know Raquel died so long ago.it was recently brought to the top again and I responded. Yes, good for Larry for finding new love, and I regret responding to a post that was worded to look like maliceous gossip. Maybe wording like, "you know he found love again' would have been a beytter choice of words than, "Well, you know he was seeing another woman right?' An honest mistake, my appologies.
