FMM FOR MINORS?

Sunman - 3-29-2012 at 01:57 PM

My wife and I are taking her boys to Baja for their first time tomorrow. They are both under 16 so a passport is not required. I could not find a definitive answer on the immigration site as to whether they still need a visa. What do you all do with your youngin's without a passport?

Not exactly sure if Mex Immigration officially requires
an fmm for them, you say they don't have a Passport
nor would I assume a Passcard, to my knowledge
to get an fmm from Mex Imm you need one of
the above, Passport/Passcard, you didn't say
where you are going, there is the free 6nt/7day
fmm if that fits your time frame

Exactly, since the FMM is for passport holders it make me think they won't need one. No passcard either, just birth certs and SS cards. We are heading to Baja Sur (San Ignacio/Scorpion Bay) for 8 days. I'll ask at immigration to make sure but was curious about others' experiences.

We always had to have a tourist permit for our kids... but this is 5 years ago so old news

We've asked before and were told no by the immigration people. But that's Mexico for you.

make sure you have their birth certificates to get back into the states

keep COPIES on your computer in case the worse scerario happens (loss - thievery - water ....)

Cradle to grave, permits are required, but you can put them on your FMM. Migracion would like to see that they are indeed your kids.
