travel into Baja

Been years since I drove into Baja, and my friend (OK he's in law enforcement) is crazed at the idea of me driving in alone. Is this a problem?

It depends on where you are going

To err on the side of caution is wise. There are bad people everywhere, including Baja. I always feel alot better traveling away from the border area into the less populated towns. Making the big turn at El Rosario is where Baja begins.
By your post it sounds like you are female traveling alone. Use all the caution you would use in the states, and then some. Stay close to populated areas. Travel only during the day. Let someone here know where you will be.
Be safe and have a great time....But I don't think I would let my wife go alone, and we go often.

Stay out of dangerous places and activities

Many feel safer in Baja than many places in the states - but don't be stupid. Like bajaloco says stay in the well populated places should be no problems. And by the way - my wife both drives in and out of Baja alone and takes ABC sometimes. Lots of women travel alone with out problems. As far as daughter is concerned a 18 year old is a 18 year old -enough said.

NO not crazed!

When driving at night (not recommended) I would be more afraid of bumping into cows and livestock on the road than to banditos...

Baja is the safest state in Mexico ( if you leave the Tijuana area out), it would be wiser to travel with at least another person, but i dont think traveling alone is a bad idea.
