Yesterday ---not what we expected to drive through headed west out Albuquerque. Strange storm after unusually warm weather. We left Santa Fe when it
was more raining than snowing, headed south to lower elevation and into the storm! It really was quite beautiful!

And the snow plow headed into another dimension.

Strange, indeed. In the inter-mountain West, it's almost always about elevation. And that's why Albuquerque usually only gets light amounts of snow.
But as one heads North with the increasing elevation, Santa Fe will find heavier snowfalls.
A number of times, we would land in Albuquerque and head up to Taos. Most of the time, there was absolutely no snow on the ground in Albuquerque, but
once at Taos, whoa!
Albuquerque has an elevation of around 5300 ft, while Taos is just shy of 7000 ft.wessongroup - 4-5-2012 at 03:54 PM

It was strange in that it snowed almost all the way to Grant and then we went up to El Moro which is higher in elevation--- lots of cloud cover, a
couple of tiny flakes, but the rangers said it did not snow there!
Before we left home, we looked at the long term weather forecast and since there was no prediction of even rain, we didn't pack the rain jackets.
But we enjoyed the change and everyone seemed very happy to have any form of precipitation --- a good time.
ursidae69, love your state and city every time we visit. And I guess we will need to return again. After not winning the big Mega, we bought one
ticket for Tuesday and forgot to check it before we left New Mexico on Wednesday and it is a winner---a whopping big $8.00 winner.
