I took a trip to see my Dad in the LA area and on Easter Sunday we took a late afternoon walk. A couple owls flew in front of us and then from tree to
tree until they settled on one right next to the street. I was able to get lots of photos that day and also the next 2 days when around the same time
of day one returned and again let me take all the photos I wanted. It was a really fun encounter.
If your interested this is a very cool slow motion video of an Eagle Owl landing on a security camera. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37MNE8tOBG4

Beautiful bird. I rescued a Great Horned Owl youngster and set her free when I was about 10 years old. Her name was Sara.

I have an owl house in the back yard and we are currently having our third family of barn owls in the past couple of years.
They are great to watch and get to know their behavior.
But, the neighbors also have a house and recently a great horned owl moved in, ate all the pretty little white barn owls and then moved on.....
Keep them out of my yard, por favor....

Bajarunner, I'm sorryI know that goes on, that GH Owls eat other owls, and I know
if that happened in my backyard I'd be heart broken over it. I just saw this video today of a Great Blue Heron nest cam that caught a GH Owl attack on
the female heron a few nights ago. 3 separate attacks but she and the eggs are fine. Here's the link if your interested.
