A mix of taste and education Baja California celebrates its aquaculture with a festival of shells and wine

As a part of the big party in honor of the new grape harvest, the Festival of Shells and New Wine will take place at the Coral Marina Hotel in the city of Ensenada from April 20 to April 22.

The effort plans to be a tribute to the shell culture by not only presenting the state's aquaculture activities, but also, becoming a learning experience.

Hugo D'Acosta, a shell expert said "Shells are to Baja California as the pyramids are to México and also a great part of the state's gastronomy".

For this occasion, around 25 local producers will participate, BajaMed restaurants and wine producers will be present and some of the restaurants will host thematic dinners.

On the event, an important part will be the strolls organized by the State's university UABC where visitors will get to know the fields of clams, mussels and others.

By adding wine tasting, the organizers are looking to introduce other activities in wich Baja is specialist.

What started as a small event almost 10 years ago, has become a celebration of three days full of learning experiences and flavor.
