Do they use swamp coolers in Baja much? I've only seen mention of AC and wondered why. Too hot there to be effective?

Perhaps too humid in some areas.

I create my own swamp cooler; just lie there and sweat.

PS: I remember 104º at 10 PM at BOLA in July 2008. We ran for Campo Rene on the Pacific coast to cool off.

Humidity starts to ramp up along the Gulf coast in June. It is not unusual to see values of 50 - 70% with air temperatures above 100 during the day
and in the 80's at dawn.

It's not effective due to the high humidity....which does variate throughout Mexico. I suggest using window type A.C.s in each room of the house. No
reason to air down the entire house.....if you are using just one or two rooms
We do this at our farm house.

Makes sense!
