I think he needs to make his point better. There seems to be little connection between the live ones enmeshed in the net and dead carcasses on the
beach whose cause of death is unknown.

Igor, point well taken. I guess it is really sad to us because he has described the injuries to us in detail. He is called when a dead turtle on the
Reserve is discovered, documents it and then they bury it.
I will suggest that maybe he try and take close ups of the specific injuries when possible. There seemed to be quite a few more discovered this year
on the Reserve. But then again, I don't know if it would make more of a point because while many people do care, some don't and do just see it as a
pesca incidental.
Also, at times it appears, but cannot be proved, that the turtle was taken for food like when we discovered a large empty shell that appeared quite
fresh. Not everyone is in favor of protecting the turtles.

Very depressing indeed. Like SkipJack, I was not sure what the point of the film was, other than showing a horrendous amount of carnage.

Of note, Meredith and I were passing in front of the Grand Wailia Hotel on Maui a month ago on one of our strolls, and in a small 30 foot wide tiny
cove there were a counted 14 sea turtles (green's) feeding on the seaweed there. Amazing!!! Makes you wonder about how many there truly are around
the Hawaiian Islands. Made us feel really good to see this.

On the positive side I'm convinced the turtles are making a comeback in the Cortez. We saw one every day this summer at San Francisquito. Something
that was a rare event just 10 years ago. Either the Mexicans are starting to obey the law or those rearing sites are the reason. Just goes to show
that the sea can come back quickly if given the chance.

i believe these dead turtles and dolphins appeared on the beach around here at the time when the big seiners were here....thus the connection was made

you can find them on the beach where pangas set their nets. On the upside, we sure see a lot of live ones around.
