Alphonso and his wife Teche were in a head on auto crash about noon today. They were taken to the hospital in Santa Rosilia, which can not provide the
services Alphonso needs. The family is looking to rent a private plane asap to take Alphonso to La Paz. Sanda his daughter is in La Paz with her
daughter, who is having a baby. She can co ordinate the ambulance in La Paz. Alphonso is in critical condition and his wife is in stable condition.
Call me or post here if you can help or know of someone who can. This needs to happen NOW. Thanks
on edit
edited as it is no longer an emergency.....
As of a few minutes ago, they stabilized him for ground transport for an MRI in La Paz, it is no longer a life or death situation and is now in an
ambulance. He suffers head injuries, spinal injuries as well as broken legs and ribs etc. He is 84 or 85.

willy,
Have you gone over to the Serenidad and asked around for some help?
KenDavidE - 4-20-2012 at 03:59 PM
CALL THE SERINIDAD HOTEL IN MULEGE AND ASK FOR DON JOHNSON.
I hope they get the help he needs.rts551 - 4-20-2012 at 04:43 PM

What is "BUMP?"vgabndo - 4-20-2012 at 04:55 PM
It bumps the message to the top of the pile where more people will see it.

Most (to see the latest posts on ALL Baja Nomad Baja forums) use Today's Posts (link at top of page)... which actually is about 4 days of posts... So
any reply (even to say BUMP) puts (bumps) it at the top of the forum it's in and at the top of Today's Posts.
On his way to the hospital in a ground ambulance..
EnsenadaDr - 4-20-2012 at 05:09 PM
Just spoke to Willy and he told me Alphonso could now be transferred to La Paz via ground ambulance for a CAT scan...so he is on his way via ground
ambulance.David K - 4-20-2012 at 05:10 PM
Thank you for the update!!willyAirstream - 4-20-2012 at 05:30 PM
Thanks everyone!! Nomads are terrific. Special thanks to EnsenadaDr for calling. I went to the SERINIDAD right after my first post and talked to
several pivots who offered to help, but their planes were small and he would not have been able to lie flat and the Doctor required him to stay on a
stretcher. Thanks Dennis for the pledge, lets see how it goes, they do have insurance.
He was driving and suffered a stroke or heart attack and drove straight into the oncoming vehicle, oblivious to everything, while his wife was
screaming. A nightmare for sure.
This on top of Pepe's heart attach and his daughter ready to have her baby any second. Pepe is doing well and taking it slow.Sweetwater - 4-20-2012 at 05:56 PM
Thanks for the efforts you have made for all involved....you're definitely a stand up guy.....
Best wishes for a healthy outcome for all.Ateo - 4-20-2012 at 07:30 PM
Glad to hear things sound semi-stabilized. Hope he gets great medical attention in La Paz.willyAirstream - 4-21-2012 at 09:59 AM
Teche will be released from the SR hospital tomorrow. Alphonso is in La Paz. The Cuesta family has requested that no further updates be made for a few
days.
Send good karma.

4-5 flying sams planes went to serenidad on friday 20th. leaving sunday after a clinic day in lopez mateo.
my guess is any one of them would have taken him to la paz since they would be close at lopez and likely a spare seat.
i just saw this. hope he got help.J.P. - 4-23-2012 at 09:34 AM

For sure and for everyone involved. You happen to know what happened to the occupants of the other vehicle?
Why wasnt this question answered??????????????????????Pompano - 4-23-2012 at 09:42 AM
Second hand info for what it's worth: Don Johnson told me on Saturday night at the Serinadad that Alfonso had hit a semi-truck with his Ford Explorer,
which is not a very large vehicle. So with that info....I doubt the truck driver recieved any serious injuries.J.P. - 4-23-2012 at 10:03 AM
Thank's Rodger.willyAirstream - 4-23-2012 at 11:10 AM
The Cuesta family had requested that no internet up dates be given so that Teche would not hear of Alfonso's condition until her status improved. (
and hopefully Alfonsos) It was touch and go, there for awhile. I just saw her and she is on her way to see Alfonso. She is banged up but strong as
always. Alfonso has improved dramatically in the last few days. He is still in serious condition, but is now fully awake and recovering from surgery
of internal organs.
capt mike - see my second post above. The pilots did offer assistance.
Those that u2u'd me with Alfonso rumors - consider them squashed.
