Fidepaz Hospital info needed. . .

Mula - 4-23-2012 at 07:32 AM

I am looking for a contact in Fidepaz Hospital who can give me some basic estimations on hospital stay costs.

Got an esitmate of 35,000 pesos for a 2-3 day stay at Fidepaz.

That seems a little high for a stay after a little surgery.

Thanks, in advance.

Just spent 3 days in ICU at Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside for a embolism in
a main artery near my liver. Total cost: $108,000.00 dollars.

My brother is having hip replacement at Scripps in La Jolla next month.
Cost: $40,000.00.

35,000 pesos in La Paz. How much is that? $3,200 dollars?? What a deal!

Hope all works out good Mula for your husband!!

Paying for surgery...

I'm sure no money went out of pocket for those stays in the US...when you are on a limited budget..sometimes $3000 can seem like alot of money. No US insurance Mula?

No US Insurance.
But did get the CURP card and the Seguro Popular after you wrote about it.
Really don't care for US of A medical.

We can afford the 35,000 pesos - just got an estimate 2 years ago for a 2 - 3 minor surgery Fidepaz stay and it was like 6,000 pesos per day, so this seems like a lot.

And a 60,000 pesos difference between 2 Dr.s for the same surgery, hospital and rehab.

So my husband is trying to decide which he wants to go with.

It's worth a shot..

Try to get a hip replacement through Seguro Popular, just go to your clinic and have them refer you to orthopedics...

Money here isn't the issue. Just don't want to be grossly overcharged.

Will check out the Seguro Popular orthopedics.

Thanks.

Actually the amount sounds right. I paid nearly 7,000 dollars for 5 days of which about 50 % were the charges by the different specialists. (4 years ago)

That orthopedic surgeon who drilled and pinned my broken wrist at Seguro Popular in La Paz last August described what eventually had to take place (cost) in the USA by an orthopedic hand surgeon SO COMPLETELY, so detailed, and so exactly correct that I remain highly impressed. Cost in the USA was $210,000 including the titanium plates and screws, and four months of 3Xweek physical therapy. I was on the operating table for 3-1/2 hours, and they took my hand and wrist apart 3 times and reassembled it to acheive the least of all evils. I remained in intensive care (heart monitoring) for 2 days following surgery. Drilling and pinning and 3 days in la Paz hospital cost about $1,100.

Seguro Popular adjusts hospital costs according to a person's wealth or lack of. In my case, the eleven hundred dollars was probably rock bottom.

2 days hospital and 4 hours with the orthopedic surgeon to put my sons arm back together. 21,000 pesos. so you are in the ballpark

Mula - 4-24-2012 at 07:07 PM

The 35,000 is for the hospital only. The prosthesis is another 48,000 and the surgeons, etc are another 75. Total for the hip is 158,000 from the one Dr. and 90,000 from another Dr.

Same hospital, prosthesis, rehab, etc.

We are not worried about the cost, per say, just think 35,000 for 2 -3 days in the hospital is too much.

Haven't got the 90,000 cost break down from the 2nd Dr. yet.
