Al has really degenerated his news the last three or four years. Two days ago i sent him a rather impolite letter about an obviously fabricated story
conjured up by one of the Kennedy Klan nieces who said she was "assaulted" by soldiers at a reten in Guerrero. I telephoned commandante Joaquin Baez
of the Petlatlan, Guerrero office of the SSP, and Joaquin told me a bunch of men jumped out of an SUV that had dark tinted windows and started
screaming at the soldados. (The soldiers of course just had to be overjoyed to be jumped on like that). I've known the commandante since he was a
sargento and he is as square and solid as they come.
Gringos and the jefes de los carteles just eat this kind of crap up. Gringos will protest like crazy against child labor sweat shops while wearing the
very same clothing made in a sweat shop. They'll go to San Lucas or Cancun, dance nude on the tables, pee in the middle of the street and then yell
obscenities at the cops when they come. "Yeah man, that is so, you know like so cool".
