My Wife and I did our yearly trip to Valle de Guadalupe and had yet another sublime meal at Laja.
I was surprised to see a bunch of microbrew beers available on the drinks list. There was a excellent stout which I had as well as an IPA, a pilsner
and a best bitter!!
Anyway they are brewed in Ensenada, so next time I'm there I will pick up a bunch to try, their website is pretty basic so I'll have to call the guy
to find out where the place is in Ensenada!
nice to see an alternative to the bland big name breweriesDENNIS - 4-30-2012 at 12:43 PM

I love it. Tis the age. I think it was in the SF paper last week a story about a new vintage of fine wine with all kinds of skulls and flames on the
bottle!DENNIS - 4-30-2012 at 01:40 PM

You sure it wasn't Rat Poison?? I'd get nervous pouring a glass of that stuff. I'd be thinking, "This might be Rat Poison."
I don't think that would be very good....ya know, Rat poison. Not very good at all.
Was the story about Urban Renewal? There's lots of Rats in places like that....or, so they say anyway. I've never really had to have my Urban renewed
before, so I'm not sure.
I had a Suburban once and had it renewed....with something else, but I can't remember what it was.
Anyway....don't drink the Rat Poison. It'll mess with your blood pressure.
Isn't Coumadin Rat Poison? I'll betcha that's what you saw.....an ad for Coumadin. That'll mess with your blood pressure too.DavidE - 4-30-2012 at 02:01 PM

Agua Mala is Spanish for Jellyfish, but yah it isn't the best name if you translate the two words as Bad Water!paranewbi - 4-30-2012 at 02:33 PM
Your onto something DK...
While snorkeling with one of my ex-wives in mex she got hit by something nasty on her leg (not me!) that left a welt and was extremely painful. The
panga operator said something to the effect of agua mala which I translated to mean bad water...but now I know he had it right as your translation was
what he must have meant.
I surmised it was a man o war that got her from the severity.astrobaja - 4-30-2012 at 03:26 PM
Well sure if you look at their website theres a pic of a jellyfish. Theres all sorts of US microbrews that have funky names! As long as they don't get
their water to brew with from Mission bay I'm fine with the name.
Andres the sommelier at Laja said a couple of their brews got awards in some competion. I can believe it they are excellent beers!! When I get a few
of the samples I'll post a pic of the bottles. BTW they also sell 20 litre kegsgreengoes - 4-30-2012 at 04:11 PM

Didn't Old Mission Brewery claim fame as the first microbrewery in Ensenada?
Duhh...it is Mexico, you can open a Neiman Marcus on Calle Juarez.DENNIS - 4-30-2012 at 04:57 PM

I think they were the first although TJ had some going before OMB.tripledigitken - 4-30-2012 at 05:14 PM
The Old Mill Hotel in San Quintin has had a policy, a good one in my view, upon check-in each guest gets a cold Pacifico beer.
Just a thought............
Perhaps the Tourista Motel in El Rosario could pass out Agua Mala when you check-in???
