if anyone is interested. If you find yourself heading down Baja highway 3 towards San Felipe, take time to see what some great friends have created. Turn off around KM 163 onto the grated dirt road, (about 20 miles before highway turn to San Felpie), head South towards the Diablo dry lakebed, then left underneath the power lines along the race course path across the sand whoops section. Just past the second power pole, out on the north side, sits one of the coolest most meaningful places you can see in all of Baja. Not because of the majestic volcanic mountain in the background.. Not because of the absolute deafening desert silence which forces you to focus on your own thoughts and feelings.. But really because the man memorialized here shares an ironic representation with his own spelled name, symbolizing the love that he brought to so many of us while he was here.. “OX”

Thanks for posting this. We've followed this story on the "rip to the tip" TV show on the Fuel channel and was wondering exactly where it was. Hopefully it will never be vandalized...

Very nice memorial to a great racer!

Very nice,
Sad to say, in a year some local will have those up as the beginning walls of his casa nueva.
Those blocks are much too nice to just sit there without being noticed.

funny, I find the tourists to be much bigger thieves than the locals. Probably someone will take them to keep their tent down in the wind next to their Toyota.

Is this the area where he crashed? In reading the early reports I got the impression it was south of San Felipe. I'm glad someone did this, thanks to them.
