I have a lot of time on my hands these days. So I spent some time researching out the best pike fishing in Canada. To make a long story I resurrected
your post on Hatchett/Wollaston Lakes and proceeded to google earth.
I believe I found a 4wd dirt road that could take me to the southern shore of Hatchett. There is one spot where water needs to be crossed, though. The
lake is full of coves and islands where pike could lay and where it may be easy with a float tube. Without a boat Hatchett looks much more inviting
than Wollaston.
So, it's now on my todo list. I guess they now call it 'bucket' list.

You've been reading my mind again, right? I am about to drive north from San Diego on the first leg of an epic fishing trip. 3500 miles
North and a bit East to northern Saskatchewan and some of the finest freshwater fishing on the planet.
Wollaston and Hatchet Lakes are on my early summer's To Do list also. (Bucket list - Smuckit list) Hey, it would be great
to rendevouz with you guys Up North, so keep us posted..and I will do the same.
About those logging & mining roads...I suspect that is what you Googled. Those can be very treacherous, Igor..and I know you will take
precautions with fuel, spares, food, water, protection, etc. Be sure to ask first at the last place you can about current road conditions. I have a
favorite trail up there near Wollaston...11 miles that takes almost 3 hours to do without losing your muffler or mind. The trailside pines are
festooned with mufflers, tires, driveshafts, and body parts. (Many years ago, my then mother-in-law said she would never-ever make that trip
again...I considered that a win-win for both of us. )
After those lakes, it's frosting on the cake at Lac La Ronge, Churchill River, and back home to Lake of the Woods...and then...???...Well, there are
many forks in the road, amigo. We will see what we will see...I believe Co-pilot mentioned something about the rugged Oregon Coast?
If you make it Hatchet you will have: Delicious walleyes for shore lunch, monster pike to scar us, huge lakers from the deep, I will be doing all
those and more later at Lake of the Woody...rainbows on the fly...con mucho crappie, sunfish,& bluegills for the kiddos... and whatever else fins
it's way near my Yarcraft.
