Closing the border gate at Tecate

thebajarunner - 5-14-2012 at 07:45 PM

Well, gotta confess that this is not that....
However, after I watched this very real video of the border crossing closing between two nuclear powers I had tears in my eyes.
Guess I have watched too much John Cleese, Monty Python and Fawlty Towers.
But it sure looks like something both of our sides could come up with.
Beats the military children with their bang bangs.....

Really cool, thanks for sharing. Maybe we could get ICE to do something like that at Tecate, I'd try to schedule my border crossing to see the US and MX do something like that......dt

love foreign military ceremonies. USA military ceremonies are so dull and dry in comparison. you would think the country that spends the most money on military could show some style, eh?

i'm thinking that style isn't hi on the list of priorities....

Like a pair of turkeys readying themselves for battle over a female.

Want tears in your eyes? Go to any kindergarten class graduation in Mexico. It'll freakin' knock your socks off. And best of all it's the children of one of the best neighbors anybody could wish for. Take a camera with lots of spare batteries and a hanky.

I will go you one better

For real tears, go to an orphanage, any orphanage.
Pick up a couple of the little critters and pack them around for a while (they never ask to be put down, by the way)
Then walk off and forget about them (NOT)
We ended up taking four (yep, count, em, FOUR) home with us and raising them with our family.
If I were young now I would do it all over again,
and, believe me, it was not easy to bring someone into your home that has never lived with a family, does not speak your language, etc. etc. etc.....

I'd like to see Sal Fish incorporate that into the start of the Baja 1000. Very entertaining.

You nailed it with the John Clese / Fawlty Towers comment.

And I'm hearing ElVin Bishop's "I'm Struttin My Stuff Y'all"

Stranger than Fiction!!

I am emailing that to all of my friends who used to watch Monty Python's Flying Circus in the 70s. They will die laughing.
