Got an e-mail from the public outreach coordinator of the instituto de Astronomia in Ensenada. If anyones in Ensenada tomorrow later in the day they
will be having activities (presumably with solar filters and perhaps a few solar scopes) at the UABC campus.
Carlos also told me this for the 5th of June Venus transit:
There will be
even some tv cameras there as we will have simultaneous events
in SPM, Ensenada and Los Cabos in Baja South
could be fun and interesting!
cheers
Mike

I view the event this way. Punch a 1/4" hole in a piece of paper or cardboard. Use a punch to make it perfect. Hold it away from a dark surface so
that the sunlight shines through making a perfect little circle. The eclipse will show perfectly. The kids will love it.
We live in the Park Presidio area in San Francisco. Fortunately there will be no fog Sunday afternoon.Ken Cooke - 5-19-2012 at 05:37 PM
Too bad I won't be at SSPM to view this event. I know it will be more fun in Mexico!DavidE - 5-19-2012 at 06:06 PM

Does not need to be 1/4". Can be much smaller. Just push a sharp pencil through a piece of paper. Try to make a neat hole. Hold far enough away from
another surface so that a spot of light comes into focus. Watch as the moon passes. http://www.hartrao.ac.za/other/eclipse2002/pinhole.html
