Forty minute wait - friendly, smiling ICE (is that the right term now?) officer. After a couple of questions about our dog, we were waved through.

I have to comment on two Chula Vista businesses. We have been going to the Firestone store on Broadway for more that ten years and I can't praise the service highly enough. They have always made customer satisfaction their goal and they deliver. The GM hopped into the driver's seat next to me today, smiled and said, "OK, let's give this puppy some new shoes!"

On his recommendation, we walked south about one hundred feet to Bullseye Burgers and Grill (formerly a Boll Weevil) for lunch. We had a terrific 1/3 lb. cheeseburger (choice of American, jack, Swiss or blue) for $3.99 and onion rings /fries for $2.00 additional. The burgers were cooked to a juicy medium.

On the menu, their versions of the 1/2 lb. burgers are all around $6.00 and the Big Boy is a 1 lb. burger with all the fixings is $9.99.

The service was excellent and friendly, the condiment tray had a box of raw onions, a box of relish, a box of peppers, squeeze bottles of ketchup, mustard and a special two bottle holder with red Tabasco and Green Tabasco and then two other special sauces in squeeze bottles were delivered Every item on that condiment tray was sparkling clean.

Hubby had an apple juice that came in a 24 oz. glass. Wine and beer are also available.

The manager came by to check in with us after we had finished eating and she told us that the new owner had "really cleaned up the place".

You actually got asked questions on your dog? In all the time we have gone back and forth we have never been asked anything on the dog....always had all the paperwork just in case but never been asked. They are more interested in if you have dog food with you (opened or unopened no matter where you bought it). Ha. Nancy

The Questions Were Just Friendly Stuff

"What kind of dog is it?' "Great Dane."

"What's his name?" " 'A'a."

" 'A'a, what's that?" "It's the Hawaiian word for shiny, black lava; all our Danes have had Hawaiian names."

"You have a good day, now." "Thanks, you too, bye now."
