Place to cool off in Baja

edm1 - 5-20-2012 at 09:42 PM

Triple digits in Phoenix this week (107F tomorrow). Where can I find sub 80s in Baja for a quick, 2-3 days, getaway?

Curt63 - 5-20-2012 at 09:44 PM

Ensenada!

willardguy - 5-20-2012 at 09:45 PM

yup!

A nice coastal area for camping near Ensenada is here:

Go to the town and head north along the coast road. Lots of places to beach camp if that's what you want.

But 80 degree temps highly unlikely anywhere near Ensenada, except maybe inland. More likely is high 60s low 70s with morning and evening cloud cover.

Ahh yes, been there once before in May. I forgot about it. Thanks.

It's been in the upper 60s at my house in Punta Banda and I'm going to Sedona for a week to WARM UP.

Warm up, NOT! With the wildfire going on there, you'll roast.

Is nobody happy where they are (climate wise)? I am happy with the climate here in San Diego... there just too many paved roads and not enough boojum trees!

David,

You have reason to be happy. I was in Oceanside this morning, fantastic weather nearly year round.
Just returned from a bike ride here in Newport Beach, some early June gloom with a bit of sun each day. Also a great place for mild weather.

But I agree, it is always fun to experience Baja's slower pace.

Anywhere you can toss a rock into the Pacific ocean where there are no palm trees!

BajaSerg - 5-23-2012 at 02:40 PM

Rosarito! at splash LOL

Bajafun777 - 5-23-2012 at 02:54 PM

In 8 more days will be in Las Gaviotas just outside of Rosarito for the entire summer, as it has been up to 109 in El Centro and climbing!! Do not want to be here for the 120s, as this summer will be Hottest if it keeps on pace as it is now!

Yea, BajaSerg can't wait to have Nick serve us a couple of colds ones at Splash, while my wife and I watch the Ocean from the bar!! Now, we will also have to have the shrimp c-cktails and fish tacos while we enjoy the view also! Yea life is tough then you retire from it,LOL!! Take Care & Travel Safe----"No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN" bajafun777

Except for the palm tree remark....

The trusty Northwesterly wind, combined with the ocean current headed South from the Bay of Alaska can be counted upon for relatively cool days all the way down the Pacific Coast of Baja.

Hence, many folks from La Paz are known to vacation over in Todos Santos, where the temps are considerably cooler than La Paz.

The phenomenon works until one gets South of Cabo.

60's and 70's in Rosarito on the Coast

It's been like that forever - this last fall, winter, spring and now going into summer.

The overcast clears up mid morning, so you have blue skies and fluffy cumulonimbus clouds and then the overcast returns at the end of the day.

Hope you find a good place to cool down!

A few years back we were sweltering at BOLA and took a brief side trip to Campo Rene on the pacific to cool off on the way south. A while later we took a beeline from Conception back to Rene. Sea of Cortez 105º - Campo Rene 78º. This was August 2008.
