Hey Nomads!
We decided to drive down and get our tourist permits today since we are leaving for Baja next Friday afternoon. There's no way I am going to try and
deal with it then. So, we parked at Las Americas, bought a new pair of sandals, and took the five minute walk to the border.
We walked through the pedestrian gate and to the immigration office (newer one on east side of walkway). After filling out paperwork, walked next
door to the bank, paid the money ($40 for two permits), returned to the immigration and walked out with permits good for 6 months. We crossed the
bridge and returned to Las Americas. Total time about 50 minutes.
My fiance, Tracy, and I are leaving next Friday for 12 days in Baja. This will be the first time we are staying in hotels and that I won't have to
air down. But, we are heading down to get married so what the heck. I suppose hot showers every day might be okay.
Here's a brief itineary:
Friday afternoon: Head for San Quintin, probably staying at Old Mill
Saturday: head for Loreto, not too sure where to stay but maybe La Pinta
Sunday: head to La Paz and stay at La Perla
Monday: head to Cabo staying at Mar de Cortez (www.mardecortez.com)
Tuesday: civil ceremony and dinner party following at Panchos Restaurant (www.panchos.com)
Wednesday: fishing
Thursday: fishing and then head up to Cocina Pacifica (www.cocinapacifica.com) in Elias Calles
Friday: wedding at cocina pacifica
Saturday: recover with menudo and more ballenas
Sunday: head north
Monday: more driving
Tuesday: drop off satelite dish to Mindy's parents and home by 3:00pm
I'll send out a report when I get back. If you're in the area, stop by Costa Pacifico Real Estate at Km77 across from the school in Elias Calles and
ask where I'm at.
Hasta Luego!
Zac
