Current Fuel Prices in Baja

skippermike - 5-31-2012 at 12:25 PM

Haven't seen the fuel price posting for a while.
We will be coming down for the Baja 500.
Anyone want to post current prices, for planning?
Thanks.

Automatic small increase 06/01
Still around U.S. $2.70/gallon something-odd-or-ever dependent on exchange rate, dispenser accuracy, whim of government, sun, moon, tides.

This leaves more money for Fish tacos! This is why I love Baja!

CortezBlue - 5-31-2012 at 07:35 PM

I paid, roughly, $2.90 for regular at the furthest south Pemex in Mexicali

Ps I used dollars and as usual the exchange rate sucked $12.50p per dollar

Magna still barely under 10 peso per liter, plus the 10% over-read of the pumps. Cheap!

In the border zone, 20 km. south from the border line (not a border crossing) the price is HIGHER... this include La Rumorosa by the line but miles from a crossing.

willardguy - 6-1-2012 at 06:38 PM

david, do we know how much difference?

David K - 6-1-2012 at 07:24 PM

They were supposed to 'match' the U.S. side... but generally at the low end (when the spread got big).

J.P. - 6-1-2012 at 08:11 PM

Magna was 9.8 in Ensenada wed when I filled up.
Get Pesos with your atm card and pay in Pesos I think you do better. I have been doing it that way for 9 years or more

$2.70 per Gallon in Rosarito

Gypsy Jan - 6-1-2012 at 08:33 PM

There are several new Pemex stations open on the free road between downtown TJ and Rosarito Centro. They are new, clean and bright with energetic employees filling your tank and washing your windows.

Why would anyone buy gas over the border these days - Oh, yeah, you are afraid of Mexico.

Where does it start to get like Mex gas/diesel prices, tijuana side, tecate, and mexicali side? If the price is significant it'd be prudent to keep the primary tank half empty and the secondary tank empty and then fill up in Baja. We'e talking 50 gal tanks here.

I was so confused on the mainland gas-wise -- and that's my industry!

I drove around in a compact for 9 days and filled up 3 times, but did a ton of driving. I think I got about 35 mpg. How would I know when the rental did everything on the dashboard in kilometers and liters? I was too busy seeing stuff.

All I know is I drove tons and pulled into Pemex 3 times, for about $25 each time.

have a favorite,in town?

There is Not a Huge Drop in Price

Gypsy Jan - 6-1-2012 at 08:45 PM

But the TJ border Pemex stations have higher prices than Rosarito and the Punta Piedra Pemex has lower prices.

Since the Cantamar station closed down, we usually fill up at Punta Piedra,

I don't know if El Sauzal is lower in price.

Diesel prices

akshadow - 6-1-2012 at 09:48 PM

I wonder if the border cost is different for diesel? I have not noticed any difference between San Felipe ans Mexicali
