WHERE ARE ALL THE NOMAD HOCKEY HOODLUMS ?

DENNIS - 6-11-2012 at 06:29 PM

It's game six of the Stanley Cup championship going on at this moment and no one has mentioned anything about it....any of it.
Now....I couldn't care less except that Los Angeles is in it, but didn't we have some Hockey fans here in the past years?

FYI....L.A. is well on there way to taking home the trophy.

Paulina - 6-11-2012 at 06:48 PM

My son is sitting four rows up from the goal right now. He's loving it!

i just commented that a riot is in the making! no Canuck teams so i think 97% of the hockey fans are doing something else.

Ohhh...yeah. That has to be it. :light:

shari - 6-11-2012 at 08:40 PM

we're watching the game of course...hockey night in baja! thanks Redmesa for hosting all the games...love your big screen and lasagna! It was cool to see some canuck players on the LA team...pretty lousy last game though...went way downhill after that first penalty for Devil fans.

redhilltown - 6-11-2012 at 11:04 PM

42 years of following the Kings for this Nomad and many years playing the sport and i cannot TELL YOU how nice it feels tonight!!!!!!! If you go back far enough and you remember Bob Pulford, Bob Nevin, Dan Maloney, Terry Harper, Serge Bernier, Don Kozak...........oh...i could go on.....you know who you are!!!!

A great night in Los Angeles sports history! :tumble::tumble::tumble::tumble:

bajadogs - 6-11-2012 at 11:08 PM

SWEET!!! Stanley Cup in So Cal!!! What's really going to irk my east coast in-laws is how it's not a big deal to us. "Yeah, big trophy, ooh look, surf is up."

Great run Kings!

Hook - 6-12-2012 at 12:57 AM

Oh, come on Red Hill.

How about Eddie "the Jet" Joyal? "Cowboy" Flett?

Still, I think my favorite all time King was Bernie Nicholls, with his big smile and famous Pumper-Nicholls move after scoring a goal.

Of course, I didnt watch a single game of hockey this year. Not one. All the Canadians had left by the time the playoffs had rolled around.

And what fun is it, watching hockey with Americans????

Martyman - 6-12-2012 at 08:06 AM

Don't forget Rogie Vachon! SHOT ON GOAL!! Congrats to the Kings-I'm a sharks fan though-we're next!

[Edited on 6-12-2012 by Martyman]

the big story

durrelllrobert - 6-12-2012 at 08:29 AM

Since I'm on TDI up here in Edmonton I was forced to watch the game with my wife's relatives. What was of most interest to them wasn't the goals or all the Canadian players on both teams. It was tha fact that the Devils lost because
Canadian porn star Taylor Stevens and her, ahem, tweets sat right behind the ... Devils bench at Staples Center for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final ...and distracted them to the point that they had no chance of winning.

redhilltown - 6-12-2012 at 11:57 PM

Hook and Martyman I am impressed! Shot on goal! Cowboy Flett, and Bernie Nicholls (who by the way, never met a pass he liked and would shoot even if is line mate was wide open but I digress)... Eddie Shack...I could go on...

Those were some lean years for the Kings with some great moments. Last night was a lot of fun. The ONLY true disappointment was not being able to hear Bob Miller and Jim Fox call the game...somehow/someway the networks gotta come up with something to let the local announcers in on the action...it was almost criminal after what Miller has meant to this team for the last (almost) 40 years.

shari - 6-13-2012 at 10:47 AM

wonder where puckdrop is? He'd be proud of my grandson Izaak taking in the series...he even held a dog's toy over his head like all the players were doing with the cup...after all...he does have some canuck blood in there somewhere!

Hook - 6-13-2012 at 02:04 PM

Shari, you let your grandson watch a train wreck like that game 6???

Brave girl. I hope he isnt too traumatized.

Puckdrop - 6-14-2012 at 06:37 AM

Hey Shari and all, have been away for awhile but am back in the cold confines of Vancouver. Man you would think it was winter here, wait, it still is
Congrats to the LA Kings, 45 years of the pursuit of the holly grail and they did it. Should have bet on them in September last year, would have been able to retire with the odds they had to win the cup in Vegas.
Sherri, that great looking little Izzak is with out a doubt a future NHL'er. Just look at his two point stand with an eye on that puck. He's lining up the flat screen for a hip check into the wall. The referee is looking down ice and an elbow to the remote control is in the cards too. With that golden lock of hair, he should rival Ron Dugey ( remember him with the Rangers ). Now that was a player with hair!!! As a Canadian expat, I'm sure your looking forward to next year and get that new pair of skates for Izzak, he's not to young to start.
GO CANUCKS GO

woody with a view - 6-14-2012 at 06:42 AM

the next project for Juan will be an ice rink at the blowhole! just gotta figure out a way to turn seawater to ice and keep the vaqueros from using it as a corral in the summer months!:light:

tiotomasbcs - 6-14-2012 at 06:48 AM

Where were the Canucks? Two years in a row must make it real tough on the Frozen North! Hard not to gloat some since Shari went with east coast Devils over westcoast LA Kings? Never been to a hockey game wait--Long Beach in the early sixties. I have been to quite a few surf contests and Bikini Expose!:coolup: Good enuf, Dennis? Tio

Puckdrop - 6-14-2012 at 07:21 AM

On the eve of our most embarrassing moment in the history of this beautiful city ( 2011 Riot ) we had the forsite back in April to not tell the Canucks that they where in the play-offs. LOL. Very classy on LA and NJ to show the hockey world that you don't need to burn down your city if you win or loose the cup !
Our judicial system is so slow here, that only last week did the first of hundreds charged in rioting one year ago, was convicted.
I think there is a conspiracy that the Canucks are not allowed to win the Stanley Cup ! We are now going into year 41 to try and win this old tin cup.

Our

If there had been a Soccer Ball rolling around that ice rink, LA would be in ashes by now.

shari - 6-14-2012 at 08:09 AM

good to hear from Puckdrop! it was hilarious watching Izaak enjoying his first hockey series...he loved all the falling down and BOOMS (checks) and was imitating the goalies stance alot...hmmm? I wonder if they sell kids skates at the segundas?

Tio...I'm a Detroit fan so NJ was the next best thing...plus I love rooting for the underdogs!

Bob in Canada..

Do you think you could allow me to go on your property while you and Debbie are away at a certain time and date to pick up my belongings. Talking about porn stars, Dennis has said that he would drop off my books, external hard drive and silver flute (all valued at over $2000 American dollars) on your property, but that is a trap as you know that I can't go on your property without permission. Since DENNIS is full of hot air and won't answer my emails to arrange it, I was wondering if you could facilitate this delivery. I really don't want to have to report this to the Ministerio Publico...thanks Bob.

3 minutes for unecessary roughing

Hook - 6-14-2012 at 08:52 AM

I'm thinking the Doctor has necessitated creating a new major penalty; a five minute, interference or cross-checking penalty.

Hook - 6-14-2012 at 09:00 AM

Shari, Red Wing fan?

Then you must be saddened by the retirement of the greatest defenseman I ever saw; Nicki Lindstrom.

Oh sure, there were better scoring defensemen like Coffey, Orr, Chelios and Borque. But Lindstrom did what defensemen are supposed to do, first. Defend.

I never saw a tougher player to get around when someone was coming down the ice on him. He epitomized the "brains over brawn" style of defending. He just turned a player away from the action.

I'll miss watching Nicklas Lindstrom play hockey.

shari - 6-14-2012 at 11:08 AM

i heartily agree with you on all counts Hook!

You make a great case Hook and it could be argued a bit...but not much. You could add Robinson and Potvin to the mix. My point would be Orr blew it all up and changed the sport forever and that happens only once.

Is what I meant to say!!!!

Hook - 6-15-2012 at 04:56 AM

Larry Robinson would be #2 on my list, followed by Scott Stevens.

redhilltown - 6-16-2012 at 12:12 AM

very very hard to argue with you Hook!!!!! (though in the spirit of Nomads of course I will!!!) ;D;D;D
