I decided to treat myself to the ferry this trip north, and had a good trip. I left Loreto at 1pm on Sunday, took a leisurely drive and arrived about
4pm. ferry window reopened about then and I bought my tickets which I had reserved via email. cost for vehicle, shortest one, and senior card
fare/sleeping room was just under 4000 pesos. you are supposed to buy your tickets either the day before or by 5 pm the day of the trip.
had a good dinner at the chicken place...can't remember name, restaurant on the right just after you turn into the town...then back to ferry as
instructed at 6pm. a lot of waiting around, take a book, then check in/photo then more waiting around, finally boarding...vehicles back in
last...around 8pm. my car registration was required and the VIN checked. pushed the red light/green light button and backed onto the ferry as
instructed, where someone escorted me to my cabin. we were to leave at 8, but two hours later were still sitting at the dock. I found out later it
was an aduana matter over someone transporting sea cucumbers.
made my bed up in my cabin, take your own linens if you go, none are provided, number 8, which is a good one if you can request it, up on the same
deck at the 'first class' cabin, await from the general seats/tvs/snack bar. I never saw anyone in the first class cabin. the other cabin was full,
cold from ac, dark, and loud with Spanish language movies. I talked with some other gringos who slept in their seats there and they said it was okay
but I was glad I'd invested in the cabin. slept well, arriving in Guaymas around 8am, again 2 hrs late. quick unloading, wave thru by military and
on the road.
that was the great part. two lane divided highway all the way to Phoenix. after MX 1, what a treat! border wait was about 40 minutes, and with
breakfast, gas, and dinner breaks, I was still home by 7 or so.

my cabin, my old sheets I took along for the trip. pillows, but not pillow cases are provided.

the 'first class' cabin, on my same deck. I never saw anyone in there. don't know what the story is on that.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good ferry experience and an easy trip from Loreto to AZ. I'll bet the Santa Rosalía restaurant you went to was
Tercos Pollito (which means somthing like stubborn little chicken). They have delicious rotisserie chicken and great breakfasts too. I love their
huevos divorciados with red and green sauces. I'm not sure what's up with that upper "first class" seating area--nobody seems to use it much. I
suppose, when not paying the extra for a cabin, it would be a nice escape from the noise of the lower level TV area, but the AC never seems to be
turned on up there. The last few times I've tried to get camrote #8 it's been booked by families using all 4 bunks. But I agree, it's nice to have

I wore one... once only...in Bristol Bay, Alaska during a salmon run fiasco. Thank God, Odin, Poseidon, Neptune, Red Dog Saloon-keeper or whoever was
looking over me, I never had to put that survival suit to the test in the freezing water.
Here's what some look like...mine was lots older and not stylish like these...not even close.
And on the car ferry, here's an older photo taken around 1979 or so. George Staples and I playing cards on the deck tables heading for Guaymas from
Sta. Rosalia. George was part owner of Punta Chivato development at that time...from Eugene area originally.

WOW !! you are a wealth on this place !! when I ran a 120 ft for alaska oil spill that was my pillow !!! dont want to spend time in the middle of the
