Easy and cheap way to win the war on drugs

thebajarunner - 7-9-2012 at 06:35 PM

This is too simple folks.
Instead of sending guns, advisers and arms, why not just send them a couple hundred Predator drones?
Surely there would be better local intel than we get out of the mid-East countries, where they have been incredibly successful in routing out Al Q.
Just a thought,
probably too simple, cheap and effective to get much attention.

This has OT written all over it.:lol:

Got news for U

Dozens of drones are flying all across México. How do you think all the jefes are getting busted. The NSA has supercomputers devoted to sifting every single communication in México. Voice recognition. Cell tower triangulation, a massive building in downtown Mexico DF devoted to picking off the bad guys. "Like shooting fish in a barrel" was one operative's comment about zeroing in on rash jefes. Only big shots that isolate themselves four or five layers away from communications other than hand-to-hand are surviving. But there are so many hundreds of campesinos willing to make some pesos that the fields are almost impossible to eradicate. Three months after a field is burned, another is growing.

The truly misinformed foreigner believes that if the Mexican military stops their war on organized crime, the deaths will stop. The 2% inflicted by armed forces may stop but the other 98% gang vs gang would continue. Poll after poll show 85% of the Mexican people WANT the military to continue what they are doing.

Gee ya think if the BILLIONS of dollars that go south were to be intercepted it might have an effect on drugs? Ya think? Oh yeah, the USA can rant about Mexico not stopping the flow of drugs, but but but but but but but......

It wouldn't be FAIR to think the USA should stop the flow of money headed south, never mind the tons of automatic weapons and ammunition.

Predator drones have a limited mission. They do it well but a public that demands cheap Mexican drugs at any cost is the real villain. They are as evil, as irresponsible and destructive as any wall street crook that they would point their finger at.

No, I got news for U!

Of course there are drones flying all over,
I am talking about the ones with those little shiny things attached that go BOOM when settling into the hideaways and storage areas for the guys.
As to the rest of your rant, well, I have no idea how to stop all of that, but I do know that setting off some fireworks will dampen the activities, and pronto....

Well, I tried...

Cheaper than a couple of billion in drones - poisin the drug supply

akmaxx - 7-10-2012 at 07:55 AM

The junkies will die, the casual user will be scared off, and the potential user will steer clear. There would be some collateral damage but certainly better than the tens of thousands dead by the hands of the establishment.

Just read a book on this - Rising Pheonix - and it lays out a pretty good strategy for reducing the drug problem nearly instantly.

Legalize it.

some facts

durrelllrobert - 7-10-2012 at 09:34 AM

Most, if not all, Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) flying in Mexico are the original MQ-1 Predator configuration and carry no armament (strictly survellance) and use a 119 hp snowmobile engine.
These were replaced in 2006 by the MQ-9 Reaper that has a 900hp turbo-prop engine and can carry 500 lb bombs and Hellfire missiles making it a true hunter-killer.
The current Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) is called the Avenger, available in land or sea variants, carries 3000 lbs of bombs and missiles, hasa a maximum speed of460 mph; 741 km/h (400 kn) and an enduranceof 20 hours with standard fuel and a service ceiling: 60,000 ft (18,288 m) operating altitude and cost between $12 -15 million each
All 3 varaints were manufactured by General Atomics in San Diego

Well lets see, California tried to legalize recreational Marijuana and it almost passed, so if we follow your strategy and poison the supply then I think a few more than tens of thousands would die, howz about millions. Brilliant idea!

vgabndo - 7-10-2012 at 01:03 PM

And THAT is how a culture manages to spend four out of every 10 dollars of it's treasure on bullets. 12 million dollar RC assassination airplanes.

In the old days, if a man had a beef with another, he'd call him out. If that didn't work, he might have to punch him in the nose to keep him from breaking boundary agreements. There was a chance of getting punched back. This helped to limit the "calling-out"

Today if WE THE PEOPLE concoct a beef with another, we just vaporize them with a Hell Fire drone from 10,000 miles away. Given that most of these folks live in mud huts, they seldom punch back.

We need un-manned killing machines because it is difficult to find people willing to put their lives at risk for such moral bankruptcy.

Not much is going to change while thousands of San Diegans are feeding from that bloody trough. In God We Trust.

And where this relates to the Mexican drug war, Yes, de-criminalize the drugs. Take the profit out of pot just for openers.

In Northern Alta California, between the "compassionate dispensaries" and the laws leaving law enforcement confused and inclined to ignore non-violent crime. Cannabis is almost legal and so much is being produced indoors that the price of a pound of outdoor is down to $1200 or less. The competition to sell to dispensaries and co-ops is intense.

We don't need to import bad Mexican weed to satisfy a population which clearly wants it. California already would be the eighth largest nation in the world economically. Our most valuable single cash crop is essentially an underground economy.

And, this says nothing of the economic benefits of growing hemp all over the state once the insane prohibition on THAT harmless product is lifted.

legalize it...

choyero - 7-10-2012 at 05:34 PM

Legalize it, don't criticize it
Legalize it, yeah, yeah, and I will advertise it

Some call it tampee
Some call it the weed
Some call it marijuana

Some of them call it ganja

Every man got to legalize it, and don't criticize it

Legalize it yeah, yeah, and I will advertise it

Singers smoke it

And players of instrument too

Legalize it, yeah, yeah

That's the best thing you can do

Doctors smoke it, nurses smoke it

Judges smoke it, even the lawyer too

So you've got to legalize it, and don't criticize it

Legalize it, yeah, yeah, and I will advertise it

It's good for the flu, a good for asthma

Good for tuberculosis, even umara composis

Got to legalize it, don't criticize it

Legalize it, yeah, yeah, I will advertise it

Birds eat it, ants love it

Fowls eat it, goats love to play with it

So you've got to legalize it, don't criticize it

Legalize it, yeah, yeah, and I will advertise it

Keep on telling you, legalize it

I dont have anger management issues, I have idiot management issues.

I love it! I did about fifteen hundred new sub contractors in 15 years in 20 states. I'm afraid I had both issues!!:fire:

That casual user could be one of our children.
Action without thought has cost our species dearly.
Only humans are capable of such thoughts.

Forced users

mcfez - 7-11-2012 at 07:09 AM

There are thousands of innocents..........that have been......are.....forced into using drugs. Take a closer look at the runaway children of the street, many are pursued by pimps, child molesters, and other various monsters that roam this world............that will induce drugs to them.

You think this is the way to help a kid............killing them off?

The hard core drug dealer and manufacturer (illegal labs) should all be sent to out Sea.............placed on anchored retired Naval ships.....for the rest of their natural lives.

SFandH - 7-11-2012 at 07:15 AM

The war on drugs can't be won, there's too much profit, new soldiers will always be there.

Stop fighting it.

watizname - 7-11-2012 at 08:00 AM

Fez has a good idea to solve the prison population thing. We DO have a huge mothball fleet, and some of the highspots to anchor up on are WAY to far to swim away from.

Ateo - 7-11-2012 at 08:04 AM

The was cannot be won. Try something new -- legalize. Tax.

Seriously off topic but.....

akmaxx - 7-11-2012 at 11:07 AM

Just a book I read with a different answer to the problem. Not saying that soft drugs could or should be altered in this method.

The ones who hook the kids on it wouldn't chance feeding their meal tickets killer drugs anymore than they would feed them rat poison. They would find another way to enslave them....different issue altogether with a solution far more barbaric and untenable.
