GOOD MOTELS RED BLUFF NORTH TO MEDFORD?

Hi Nomads...

Hope you guys can help me out...

Going to be traveling north to Washington (Redmond) next week and would like some recommendations for good motels along Interstate 5 anywhere from Red Bluff to Medford.

Since it will be for just one nights stay, it doesn't need to be the Ritz. The cheaper the better, but of course clean is important!

Anything you know about coming back south would also be appreciated...maybe as far south as Sacramento.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express..........great room, clean, quiet, b'fast in the morning

In Redding----------Exit mid-town Redding on CYPRESS, and turn west on CYPRESS for one short block, and then turn north (right) one block where you will find an exceptionally nice MOTEL 6 on your right, with a restaurant within 1 block. Also, the VAGABOND, just before the MOTEL 6 is old, but nice and right beside the above mentioned restaurant. Both very reasonble.

More fancy, try the BEST WESTERN on HILLTOP which is exceptionally nice, but a bit pricey at around $100. Take CYPRESS exit but turn East on Cypress and then almost immediately north on HILLTOP for several blocks----Best Western will be on your left, and there are numerous great restarants on premise or within walking distance.

Redding has dozens of Motels, most just fine, and most on HILLTOP.

Miguelamo, keep driving to Mt. Shasta. The mountain air will be many degrees cooler than the valley. There are half a dozen private motels with much more reasonable prices than any of the chains, and we have good food within walking distance. Take the first Mt. Shasta exit, old highway 99 is still populated with the former "auto courts".

Fill your water jugs with the best drinking water on earth, and we're almost exactly half way between Medford and Redding; a little over 6 hours to the Columbia River.

EZ re-entry to I-5 and 45 minutes to the Oregon line in the morning.

Motel 6 at Weed is 49.99 (stayed there last week)
Motel 6 at Yreka is 39.99.

all those suggestions above are good...........I think it depends on how far you are going to go and when it is convinent of you to stop. Redding is HOT at the moment and Mt. Shasta would be nice. Several months a nomad mentioned a place they stay near Dunsmuir that was pretty good. Cave something on the left hand side of the hiway. Anyone remember that post? I cannot remember the name of the place.

I was down there today and took this picture in the shade.

93 here at 18%. The afternoon breeze(and the smoke) will make for a nice sunset.

106 in Redding about a half hour ago--------now down to 104. Good swimming weather!!! 20% humidity, and no smoke------delightful!!!!
