Many words have different meanings...the word "mordida" meaning "bite" strikes fear in the hearts of tourists when it means the thought of paying a
bribe to a cop or official.
But at birthday parties the word is repeatedly yelled out when the cake arrives...the guests call for the birthday person to lean over and take a bite
out of the edge of the cake.
Yesterday we had the honor of hosting a celebration for our friend and worker Manuel on his 61st birthday. Juan mentioned that he had never had a cake
before which may explain this most amazing mordida I'd ever witnessed.
I held the cake so he could take a little bite and perhaps give his face a tiny push into the cake...and when I did, he grabbed the cake and literally
wiped his whole face in the middle of it taking full advantage of the mordida...it was AWESOME!!!
Adrian & Juan played the birthday song and entertained us all with wonderful music all afternoon....Surfdoc's date sang a few tunes too!
Stan is wishing Manuel a very happy birthday
Zoe provided the tequila to get the party rolling
It's neat some of the expats here are immersing so nicely into the local culture....Surfdoc is a real romeo these days and Nancy's spanish is really
improving as she chats easily with her new amiga.
It was a lovely party for our esteemed, humble amigo...thanks to all of you who attended.

We went to a bday party for my daughter's best friend in San Diego yesterday...she got a big mordida of her Hello Kitty cake too. She came up with a
pink and white face.
The hostess made some pretty good ceviche, which I was glad to eat, since I didn't get any in Cabo last week!
Her suegra also made some good carne asada and homemade flour tortillas.
I felt like I was still in Baja since everyone was speaking Spanish and I was the only gringa around!
...but they all shouted for the Mordida tambien

most people wipe the cake off as soon as they can but seeing as it was Manuel's first mordida...he rather enjoyed it and remained cake-faced for quite
some time...it was stupendous.
Next up...tonight's sea food extravaganza at Loncheria Mari's with baja grouper, and a nomad lurker who have graced us with a visit.....then....horse
races tomorrow amigos...and the world's best shrimp tacos! It's all about the food!
