Baja del Mar

Anyone have an opinion of Baja del Mar? Looked at a house there. Thanks for the previous advice re:travels in Baja. Besides "losing" my late husbands wedding ring and an overpriced meal at La Fonda, I enjoyed my time there.

Do you mean Bajamar? If not, where is Baja del Mar located?

Baja Mar?

The papers I just shuffled thru say Baja del Mar, just 20 minutes on the toll road from the border. It is past San Antonio del Mar, and just past that white Taj Mahal-like hotel but before Rosarito. It has been there about 15 years or so.

And it is on the ocean side of the highway, but near a golf course.

Nice community. I know some folks who live there. Very clean and well kept. Gated. I would recommend it. The only negative I have heard is weekend beach traffic.

As I visited in the off season, am I in for that big of a suprise as far as more people, etc. on weekends? Someone refered to Rosarito as San Diego South but I did not see much of that.

Rosarito, San Diego south ?

Not hardly !! True, it is convenient for the San Diego folks to come down and shop, eat and party but, I suppose if it was anything like San Diego, they would probably just stay home!
Plenty to see and do in Rosarito but also very easy to stay away from the crowds of downtown.

If you like to live near a Pemex powerplant and all the possible calamities that can bring, then Baja del mar is for you.

Look at other communities near Pemex storage facilities or power plants:

As far as I know, there is no significant LPG storage at the electric plant. The plant is currently powered by fuel oil and will be converted to NG when the new off-shore facilities are built.

I would not live near a LPG storage facility. I would if it were NGL.
